This is basically how a lot of people would react to UBI, and it will almost certainly result in politically-determined limits on what people can spend their UBI money on. If I'm right about that, it will mean that any UBI program will eventually just become indistinguishable from current welfare / wealth transfer schemes like EBT.

Even if that didn't happen, it would result in a whole bunch of incredibly useless people having zero incentive to spend any part of their day producing any kind of good or service other people might actually want or need... and if a large percentage of the population is doing that, we all get a hell of a lot poorer very quickly.
