“And with perseverance they bear fruit,” says another version, “and with perseverance they bring forth a good harvest.”
But those that fell on good ground, these are those who with a good and upright heart retain the word they have heard, and bear fruit with perseverance.
Luke 8:15
For a concrete and successful harvest, it is necessary to grasp it tightly and not simply wait with folded arms. This wait requires effort, faith, seeing things differently and facing many obstacles. The sum of all this is the process of achieving a good result. I would like to share with you an excerpt from the story found in 2 Kings 2:4,6.
And Elijah said to Elisha, Stay here now, for the Lord has sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said, As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they went down to Bethel
And Elijah said to him again: Elisha, stay here now, because the Lord has sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
And Elijah said to him: I pray you, stay here, because the Lord has sent me to the Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So it was both.
What do these three phrases have in common? I would like to emphasize Elijah's attitude towards his burning desire, he will not leave Elijah, but will accompany Jesus or Jesus decided to do so. What was the desire that moved Elisha?
When they had passed, Elijah said to Elisha: Ask what you want me to do for you, before I am taken from you. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
2 Kings 2:9
Elisha had a clear goal, his vision was clear and specific. This allowed him to achieve what he wanted with purpose and determination. Did you understand? After Elijah was separated from Elisha and the promise was made that he “received him,” Elisha naturally began to perform mighty works and glorify God before others. I encourage you to follow this example of patience. You and I have the same opportunity.

“Y con perseverancia dan fruto”, dice otra versión, “y con perseverancia dan buena cosecha”.
Mas la que cayó en buena tierra, éstos son los que con corazón bueno y recto retienen la palabra oída, y dan fruto con perseverancia.

Para una cosecha concreta y exitosa, es necesario agarrarla con fuerza y no simplemente esperar con los brazos cruzados. Esta espera requiere esfuerzo, fe, ver las cosas de otra manera y afrontar muchos obstáculos. La suma de todo esto es el proceso de conseguir un buen resultado. Me gustaría compartir con ustedes un extracto de la historia que se encuentra en 2 Reyes 2:4,6.
Y dijo Elías a Eliseo: Quédate ahora aquí, porque Jehová me ha enviado a Bet-el. Y Eliseo dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Descendieron, pues, a Bet-el
Y Elías le volvió a decir: Eliseo, quédate aquí ahora, porque Jehová me ha enviado a Jericó. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Vinieron, pues, a Jericó.
Y Elías le dijo: Te ruego que te quedes aquí, porque Jehová me ha enviado al Jordán. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Fueron, pues, ambos.
¿Qué tienen en común estas tres frases? Me gustaría enfatizar la actitud de Elías ante su ardiente deseo, no dejará a Elías, sino que acompañará a Jesús o Jesús decidió hacerlo. ¿Cuál fue el deseo que movió a Eliseo?
Cuando habían pasado, Elías dijo a Eliseo: Pide lo que quieras que haga por ti, antes que yo sea quitado de ti. Y dijo Eliseo: Te ruego que una doble porción de tu espíritu sea sobre mí.
