Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of West Coast Milblogger. I’m your host Cyrus Emerson.
It’s been an exciting week at From A to Z’s HQ where a screenplay in the works since 2008 has finally been finished. As fans know, The Lords of Hemp is now a finished feature length screenplay ready for submission to the 2025 NRDC Climate Storytelling Fellowship. While we hoped to have a mock movie poster ready and supporting merchandise done for this episode of WCM, there’s now something to look forward to next week.
Remember, The Lords of Hemp is Part 1 of a trilogy ending in 2013. WCM fills in the gap. Then, Z-Dead is Part 2 starting in 2037, pulling in a generational element. If the films are a blockbuster hit this is when a series would start, picking up from the end of Z-Dead. Then our top-secret outline for Part 3, title undisclosed.
Now our AI correspondents report on Missile War, Chinese Trouble, and US Southern Wall.
Missile War.
Explain how serious nuclear threats are currently with NATO and Russia on the brink of World War Three.
Last week, West Coast Milblogger was one of the first outlets to report on Biden’s approval of long-range missiles for Ukraine. However, YouTuber Jake Broe, a former officer in charge of US ICBMs reminded us that the ATACMs are actually short-range missiles with the ability to travel roughly 500 KM.
In response, Russia used a bigger ballistic missile that can travel at hypersonic speeds. The new Oreshnik missile is truly an invention of nightmares. So much so that Russia actually gave advance warning before firing. Embassies were cleared in Kyiv, before the missile finally destroyed civilian infrastructure in the small down of Dnipro.
Looking at a map, one can see the strategic importance of the area. Had this been a nuclear strike, it would’ve given Russia two pressure points - one north and one south of Kyiv - where a nuclear contamination zone helps to delineate Ukraine from Russian influence.
It would help Russia, carve out most of Eastern Ukraine while keeping Ukraine’s capital city on the frontline. This is the scenario portrayed in From A to Z’s screenplay Z-Dead helping to kick off the zombie apocalypse.
European politics mirror the US with Red Russia against Blue European Union with added powder kegs including thousands of years of infighting and nuclear weapons.
In both cases, the Blues are constantly trying to form coalitions to make something happen, while the Reds wait to assume complete control before mandating. If Russia could go Blue then the European Union could go Red. The Chinese call this Ying Yang. It could help create balance and stability in the Bloodlands of Eastern Europe.
Chinese Trouble.
Tell West Coast Milblogger fans about the added impact of a peer adversary to the US in the Pacific Theater, with global tensions at an all-time high.
Right now with Russia, North Korea, and Iran keeping the West on its toes from Europe into the Middle East; China is using the moment to secure concessions in regards to Taiwan, seeing a vulnerability to the current world order.
There was a great picture at this week’s G20 summit in Brazil, capturing elder statesman President Xi striding away from the UK’s rookie Prime Minister, who tried his best to confront China’s leader about human rights violations.
There is a riff here going back hundreds of years. A small European nation doesn’t take ownership of colonies like Hong Kong against a proud Empire without some dirty tricks. Now, it’s payback time if you’re Chinese eyeing Taiwan being backed by Western powers.
Unfortunately, it remains true, the fight for Taiwan is being modeled on what’s happening in Ukraine. Once again, the threat of a nuclear strike could be seen as the only way for the Axis powers to push back against a united global effort to contain it.
In this scenario, China could make Taiwan a nuclear ash heap in order to secure the Taiwan Strait as sovereign territory while avoiding a large-scale conventional war.
It is possible nuclear strikes on Dnipro, Ukraine, and Taipei, Taiwan, could create the exclusive economic zones Russia/China desire without triggering all-out nuclear war. However, the outcome of such an act would be to truly solidify a bi-polar world without much interaction between the West and the large landmass controlled by Russia/China.
South Korea is another possible target to achieve this apparent goal of current dictators against democracies.
US Southern Wall.
Share how the border between America and Mexico is complicating the West’s ability to remain the global power.
Leaders of global political power have always built technological monuments while controlling valuable natural resources. The Southern Wall shows a shortcoming of both in America being exploited by the Chinese.
This week, while China starred at the G20 in Brazil, there was a meeting of the minds between President Xi and the President of Mexico. To this point, China has been using Mexico to circumvent US tariffs, traffic illicit drugs including fentanyl, and traffic humans with a record number of Chinese nationals intercepted this year.
Even with Trump assuming the Presidency in about two-months, and even if he acts on his campaign propaganda to close-down the southern border immediately while exporting all illegals; it might be too little too late.
America’s commitment to Israel, a small nation with no meaningful natural resources, paints the picture with its relationship to Palestinians. America has treated Mexico the same way. The border wall a giant fence.
If America were better friends with let’s say Saudi Arabia, there’s a possibility the border wall could have taken on the epic proportions of Neom future city. Imagine the foresight America could have shown with a monument to future peace and stability with the creation of a solar punk style city spanning the entire US and Mexico border. Instead of crossing the border, immigrants would be moving to the border to occupy residents in this vast MEGA structure.
Instead, China is using its soft power in South America to divide the Americas in a developing third front. While Mexico has a close relationship with America, and with such a large border impossible to control as we’ve seen thus far in human history, a nuclear border as discussed in the previous sections of this week’s West Coast Milblogger demonstrates, a nuclear detonation in Panama could have the same effect as ones in Ukraine, Taiwan, and on the Korean Peninsula. To further physically separate Western style nations from the system Russia/China share, allowing for the development of BRICs to isolate the West as a NATO block, instead of a security apparatus of the United Nations.
