The gospel of Luke relates that Jesus, after being tempted by the evil one in the desert and emerging victorious from the test, began to preach the Kingdom of God, the empire or dominion of God's perfections, in Galilee and Capernaum.
And Jesus says the gospel of Luke, returned to Nazareth, where one Sabbath day in a synagogue was invited to do a reading of the sacred texts, and with the scrolls of Isaiah in his hands, he interpreted a mysterious oracle of the Third Book of Isaiah with these words: "He began by saying to them, ´Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.´" Luke 4:21.
By interpreting the oracle and considering it fulfilled in his person, Jesus announced the beginning of his spiritual mission on earth without revealing his true identity as "son of man": redeem the oppressed, and give hope to the hopeless. His spiritual message implied a radical change for a mankind oppressed by the slavery of sin, but the holy gospel tells that another spiritual teaching was also fulfilled in that synagogue, as Jesus said with wisdom: "No prophet is accepted in his hometown" Luke 4:24.
The truth is that just as the Kingdom of God has friends it also has enemies, there are no intermediate situations, that is, there are no grays, the people indifferent to Jesus were neither more nor less than hidden enemies, like Pontius Pilate. And Jesus saw his life in danger in his hometown Nazareth for preaching this oracle of Isaiah, so he retired to Capernaum.
The Kingdom of God as Jesus announced it to the children of Abraham according to the flesh is an invitation to accept the wisdom that comes from God and that makes men truly free and blessed.
