In our country lighting has been arranged in various buildings on the occasion of Victory Day. Victory Day is a glorious day in the history of Bangladesh. This day is celebrated nationally on 16th December every year. On this day in 1971, Bangladesh gained independence after being freed from Pakistani rule.It was a unique event in history, where the oppressed nation defeated the enemy, the flag of independence, nine months of bloody liberation war, the sacrifice of lakhs of lives and unimaginable sacrifices earned our freedom.On this day, the Pakistani Army surrendered to the Liberation Army and the Allies at Dhaka's Race Course Maidan (now Suhrawardy Udyan).

Victory Day is not just a date; It is a symbol of our national spirit. On this day, the nation reverently remembers the freedom fighters, who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of the country.During the liberation war of 1971, the people of Bangladesh were subjected to brutal genocide, torture of women and inhuman torture. The Bengali nation started a liberation war against the oppression of the Pakistani forces.Along with the heroic freedom fighters, the common people also showed extraordinary courage and resistance behind this victory.

Various programs are undertaken as part of Victory Day celebrations every year. In the morning, floral tributes were paid to the martyrs at the National Memorial.The importance of the day is highlighted through hoisting of the national flag, various cultural programs, discussion meetings and documentary exhibitions in public and private institutions. Measures are taken to present the memories, history and heroism of the Liberation War to the new generation in educational institutions.Besides, this glorious chapter of the national life is commemorated through victory marches and parades.

Victory Day is a commemoration of our independence pride. But this day is not only a day to celebrate, but also to take inspiration from.
