Today I am looking forward to joining the drawing contest which is titled Draw A Damson Fruit created by @enamul17. This amazing event makes it possible to reveal the creativity and talents in bringing out wonderful art masterpieces with a special focus on features in nature. I was excited to join this equally invigorating event where the major emphasis is on the darn pretty and charming damson berry that is appreciated for its purple color. I will like to thank @enamul17 for such a wonderful contest and for helping each of us unleash the artist inside of us.
Materials i used: I first took a white paper, a pencil, an eraser together with acrylic poster colors. Here’s how I completed the artwork step by step:
I first started off with the outline of the shape of the fruit and this I drew using an oval. Then I sketched two complete round fruits and the half cut fruit right beside it was also a damson.
Subsequently I concentrated on the half-cut fruit by sketching the inner contour of it in a similar manner. In order to make the dessert look as natural as possible I placed a small seed in the middle.
To improve the drawing I drew two stems at the upper half of the whole fruits and I also added two leaves on the upper side to enable it to look natural.
After I was done with the sketch, I took a black pen and inclined the fruits, stems and leaves of the damson fruits. It did this to make the shapes look more rigid and to give the entire drawing a more concise look.
There was no suitable match for the color of the damson fruits in my selection of colors coming with the poster so I decided to mix two colors known as purple and red perfectly to fit the fruit color then carefully applied the same to all the fruits.
In the inside of the half-cut damson I decided to take a lighter brown color to depict the succulent part. The color of the seed that I have chosen is a dark brown one so that it pops out well.
To all the leaves, I painted green color and for the stems I painted brown in order to ensure that the drawing was natural looking drawing.
When coloring was over the image became so clear and filled with bright and splendid colors! This is how i was able to draw a damson fruit.
Indeed I have heard of the damson fruit. It is a small, dark purple fruit, which is almost related to the plum fruit, and has a sweet and sour taste. But, this fruit is not easily available in Bangladesh as some other country fruits or local fruits like mangoes, jackfruits or lychees. The damson fruit is not easily found in markets across Bangladesh for people are more familiar with it in Europe and some parts of Asia.
Also, it is very rare in Bangladesh and, therefore, difficult to search for local price for the damson fruit. If it were available, it would probably be categorized as exotic or foreign fruit and hence would be more costly than fruits produced locally. I don’t know the price of this fruit. This fruit has not been available In Bangladesh for me to taste, but I think it will be worth trying, particularly because of the strange taste that is believed to be ideal for jams, jellies, and desserts.
