Hello friends of Project HOPE, my best wishes to you this weekend, today I want to talk particularly about something that is usually forgotten when we have clear goals. Usually we focus on working, but there is something important to be able to achieve what we want, and this is the right mindset.

Achieving our goals is not just a matter of talent or dedication; It is also, and to a large extent, a topic of psychology. Our mind and our attitudes towards challenges are determining factors in the process. The psychology necessary to achieve our goals involves developing certain skills and modes of thinking that strengthen us and keep us focused even when obstacles arise.

One of the fundamental pillars is resilience, which is the ability to overcome adverse situations without losing sight of the final objective. Resilience allows us to adapt to changes, learn from failures and move forward with renewed determination. Many people give up at the first difficulties, while those who develop this skill manage to see in each setback an opportunity to learn and improve.

Another essential piece is the growth mindset. This mentality, proposed by psychologist Carol Dweck, refers to the belief that our skills and knowledge can be developed with effort and learning. People with a growth mindset are willing to step out of their comfort zone because they understand that true progress comes when we take risks and accept new challenges.

Discipline is also key in the psychology of achievement. Having clear goals and knowing why we want to achieve them helps maintain motivation over time. However, discipline goes beyond just “wanting” or “being motivated”: it is about creating positive habits and sustaining them even when motivation disappears. Discipline creates a structure in our lives that allows us to move step by step toward our goals.

Visualization is another very interesting technique. Vividly imagining what our life will be like once we have achieved what we want is a tool that strengthens our commitment and helps us stay focused. This technique, used by athletes and high-performance professionals, reinforces the emotional connection with our goals and increases the chances of success.

Therefore, self-knowledge is essential. Understanding our strengths and limitations allows us to set realistic goals and create effective strategies to achieve them. As we learn to identify the thoughts or patterns that hold us back, we can work on them and transform them into a source of momentum.

By developing these elements in our psychology, we are taking the necessary steps to approach our goals in a more balanced and effective way. Because achieving our goals doesn't just depend on “doing”, but also on how we think, feel and react along the way.
