I began to cultivate a farm land, and this is because first, I needed to solve the food scarcity problem in the country and over time go into Agro Industries but for a start, I needed to start with agriculture first. While people in first world countries waste food, in second and third world countries, food isn't supplus, and we need to supply our food.

Since we all know that the joy of a business is profit, another reason for doing this is to increase my source of income. We can start small and become big overtime and this is the plan. I intend to go into tree crops because they are usually used for various reasons but for now, I am starting with Bell pepper, Maize, and Banana on small piece of 8 acres of land, but then I am trying to learn about cocoa on my 2 acres of land.

I have learned a lot from this venture I began. First it was difficult to get the people who was going to work. It is funny how a lot of people just want to make money without working. I thought it was perticular to a generation but upon looking for people who were going to be farm assistants and helps, I realized that a lot of people just want to make money and not work.

First I do not have money for machineries, so we have to use simple methods of farming, and I needed to employ a few casual workers to do their job. Since we do not pay per hour and these people collect part payment before they begin their job, I had to pay them part to cut the bush. Two months passed and they hadn't cleared 1 square meter. It took extra force to make them do their jobs after which they started to request for more money. I gave them their balance after they had finished their job but it took them over 4 months before they completed their task.

Planting the crops was another big issue I had to pay workers to plant different crops, and they charged for different crops. Some crops required direct planting while others needed to be transplanted. For now, the crops that require direct soil planting has been planted but the transplanted crops are yet to be although their bedding have been done.

Currently, I have spent over $2500 and it is not going to be all because I will still be purchasing herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. It doesn't end there because I will still be paying workers who work as casual workers on the farm. Sincerely I must confess that there have been mistakes made and I believe I am making these mistakes because it is my first year. In the forthcoming years, it will be different. By next year, I should be seeing rewards for the hardwork and money spent, but for now I am still looking to learn and grow in the process. I will revisit the entire process of this endeavor at the end of it, but for now I am still pressing on.
