Assalamu Alaikum to all

Hope everyone is well. By God's grace I am fine too. Today I'm SLC21/WK3: Introduction to Basic Electrical Motors, Switchgear, and Motor Starters. I have come to participate in I feel happy to participate in this competition. We have Mr. @mahadisalim sir as our teacher. So this is a great topic.Electrical subject in steemit learning competition will teach students deeply about various engineering fields and I will answer some questions practically hope you understand. Anyway let's get started.

Write two differences between current and voltage.
The difference between current and voltage is that there are two recent concepts of electricity, but their work and influence are different. Below are two of their two differences
  1. Current: Current is the amount of electricity, that is, the amount of electrons or charges flowing through a specified story is the current, we are the amount of ampere in general language. It represents the amount of charge in the electric circuit.

  2. Voltage: The voltage is a power difference that forces the charges to move in a circuit, which is usually the volt amount. This voltage is meant how much energy charge is able to move from one specific place to another.

Write two differences between AC electricity and DC electricity.
(AC) and (DC) electricity are two types of flow, two main differences between them are given below
  1. Direction of flow: (AC) current changes direction. That is, it changes direction multiple times per second and moves in the form of a sine wave.

(DC) current is directional, meaning it flows in one direction and moves in a continuous straight line.

  1. Usage : (AC) electricity is generally used in our home or office industries it is suitable for high power.

(DC) electricity is generally used in devices such as batteries, mobile phones, computers, laptops, etc., which require constant voltage power.

These two distinctions are of utmost importance when it comes to (AC) and (DC) electricity usage.

Write the difference between an AC motor and a DC motor.
Following are the important differences between (AC) and (DC) motors
  1. Types and working principle: (AC) motor is driven by alternating current (AC), in which the direction or regulation of the current changes and the rotor of the motor rotates due to the changing magnetic flux. (AC), motor is simple and cheap to run with its power capacity.

(DC) motors are driven by direct current where the current flows in one direction. However, the rotation of a (DC) motor is caused by the interaction of the magnetic field between the armature and the stator. However, speed control in (DC) motors is simple and somewhat complicated and expensive compared to (AC) motors.

  1. Speed control: (AC) motor speed is usually controlled by changing the frequency which is related to the frequency. Inverters or frequency converters are used to control the speed of (AC) motors.

  2. Speed control of (DC) motors can be controlled directly by varying the voltage, making speed control simple and precise.
(AC) motors are simpler and longer lasting
(DC) motors also require regular maintenance etc.

Write two main differences between DOL, Star-Delta and forward reverse starter.
Two differences between DOL, Star-Delta and Forward Reverse Star are given below

1)Starting method :- DOL Star provides full voltage directly from the start terminal of the motor which results in fast starting of the motor, the starting current of the motor is high which can cause stress on the motor and power system.

In Star-Dalta starter the motor is first started in star connection with the following starting voltage reduced by about 1/3 and then delta connection is changed. This method reduces motor current and increases lifespan.

  1. Uses :- DOL starters are generally used for small or medium sized motors where the starting current is likely to be low and simple operation is required at low cost.

Star-Dalta is used in large motors where starting current control is required. Starting systems flow less current where powerful motors are used

In short we understand that the DOL turns on the motor directly.
Starts the star-delta motor slowly.
These differences are based on the functionality and requirements of the motor starter.

Write the names and pictures of the electrical switchgear used in your home.
What we mean by MCB and MK is explained below

  1. The function of MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) is to provide protection from any kind of damage due to overcurrent or short circuit in the electrical circuit of the house. It is an automatic device that automatically closes the circuit when it detects excess current in the circuit. It is commonly used in high voltage electrical circuits. It acts as a kind of safety system, and fulfills the duty of safety and security to people.

  1. MK Combine Switch: The function of this MK combine switch is to open or close the flow of current in an electrical circuit (on-off). It is generally used to turn on or off lights, fans, refrigerators, TVs, etc. in our homes. And the switch is used based on the electrical load of the house.
Make the specifications of the motor shown below.

  • KW = 37.0

  • HP = 50.0

  • RPM = 2960

  • Ampere = 62.8

  • Voltage =415

  • Hz = 50

  • PF =0.89

  • Find out the current of your home's 220 volts, 5 HP motor. (Follow Figure 2.3)
