A worksheet for learners is just like a teaching and learning guide or tool used to impart knowledge of certain courses or subjects to students. In school, teachers, lecturers, and other teaching professionals are tasked to create worksheets for students to use. A worksheet provides the full details of a course or subject and helps the students assimilate the teacher's explanation as they already know the key parts of the course.
Worksheets can also be used as a brilliant assessment tool to test learning outcomes and monitor a student's learning. It usually consists of several parts, which are: tile, Introduction, necessary resources, details of the activities, and questions. Worksheets learners are good for students because they engage them in active learning.
🔥 Worksheets learners are very helpful in the learning process in the following ways:
• A worksheet helps both the teacher and the students to have a proper understanding of the course and this will make the class an interactive class.
• It helps students to review what they have been taught before. By so doing, it helps to solidify their understanding of the topic which can lead to better retention of information.
• Worksheets also help teachers manage their time and adjust their teaching methods in a way that the students can assimilate.
• After teaching a concept, a teacher might provide a worksheet that students can complete on their own to enforce what they have learned.
WORKSHEETS ON PHRASE STRUCTURE RULE AND TREES
Subject: English
Topic: Phrase Structure Rule and Trees
Class: Tertiary Students
Time: 60 minutes
- Objective:
• After going through this Worksheet learners, students are expected to know what phrase structure Rule is.
•Examples of phrase structure Rule.
• Students should be able to draw a tree diagram.
II. Learning Materials:
The phrase Structure Rule is a syntactic rule or instruction that shows how to write or describe a sentence in a given language. They are ways to describe the kind of phrases that can occur inside and modify other phrases. We use the phrase Structure Rule to build a tree diagram.
III. Activity 1. Examples of Phrase Structure Rule.
Noun Phrase (The girl).
NP= Det + NVerb Phrase (Kicked the ball).
Vp= V + NPPrepositional Phrase (On the table).
PP= P + NPNoun Phrase (The girl beside the door).
NP= Det + N + PPSentence (The boy kicked the ball).
S= NP + VP
IV. Activity 2. Tree diagrams describe how words are organized in a sentence. Let's go with the phrase Structure Rule examples:

In your own words, define the phrase Structure Rule.
Give at least 3 simple sentences with their phrase Structure Rule.
Phrase Structure Rule can be applied cross-linguistically, give two examples from your language.

c. The baby touched my hair.
Lack of worksheet learners in the learning process might make it difficult for the teachers to assess the student's knowledge and also to engage students in active learning. Sometimes, students don't have a sufficient grasp of the concept needed to solve a problem, so additional practice is necessary. The lack of worksheets makes it hard for students to review their previous learning, making it difficult for them to understand the topic.
On the other hand, worksheets do not accommodate all learners. Some teachers recently do not use Worksheet in their teaching as they believe that letting go of worksheets might create more time in the classroom to allow students to explore their interests in a meaningful way. And when you allow students to make choices, they become more motivated.
Teacher's guidelines refer to a set of lesson plans for teachers. In as much as it provides a way to raise the foundation of teaching quality by supporting teachers in the process of simplifying the task of providing instructions by focusing on how to teach and not only what to teach, it is still not sufficient enough for the students to assimilate the topics. The teacher will have to create a worksheet based on the student's learning capacity. With this, the purpose and aim of the teacher, which is for his or her students to gain knowledge, will be achieved.
