The phenomenon of using copyright-free images is not a new discussion on the platform, but it has been a hot topic for a long time and is a serious concern for users, but quite a few newcomers don't understand it.

In this post, I want to explain again about the use of realistic images, meaning that the images used are sourced from free service providers.

Why should you use copyright-free images?

As a user who is taking part in a learning program through achievement in the newcomer community, the use/conditions for using images/text have been explained in achievement 3, but as I said, I found several users who carried out negative activities based on their lack of initiative to read.

Please be aware that plagiarism is a form of intellectual crime and the perpetrator will be subject to criminal sanctions. Each country has different legal products related to it.

How to use copyright-free images?

There are various providers of copyright-free images that writers can use, for example:

  1. Take it from Google.
  2. From other web providers: pixabay, pexels dan freepick.

Can all copyright-free images be used freely? This is where the author needs to pay attention, even though the images quoted are sourced from free image providers, as a form of appreciation to the owner, including the image source is recommended on this platform.

Examples of using images and sources from Pexels.

By including the source of the image and the name of the owner, we as users have appreciated the work of the image owner.

Then you can also use other free images via the Google search engine. I'll show you how:

Steps:

  1. Open a browser and type google.com as in the image above
  2. select an image
  3. select Creative Commons licenses
  4. Use the image source when uploading it

Below I demonstrate the use of images from wikipedia,

In the license section, the owner of this image gives users the freedom to use the image freely. Pay attention to the quote from the image above

By following the existing guidelines, you are one of the users who support eradicating plagiarism and respecting the copyright of content owners.

Hopefully, this reference is useful for me as a writer and other users in the Steem for Betterlife community in general.
