Living a good life is not just about personal fulfillment, it's about the impacts we leave on people. When we are gone, people won't remember our wealth, status or material possessions. They will remember the good things that we did, the love we shared and the differences we made in their lives.

The best Legacy is not what we leave for people, but what we leave in people. Life is not about what we have but what we leave behind when we die.

THE FUNERAL

It was the day we were going to bury my landlady. She died after a long time of struggling with deadly illness. I had to go and help out in the kitchen. Different meals were made in large quantity. Due to the fact that she was a very kind woman, a lot of people came out to help in one way or the other.

Shortly, as our culture demands, the woman's first daughter with the company of the woman's siblings, the husband and other family members went to bring the woman from the mortuary. On arrival at the compound, the people that carried the coffin who are locally called the undertakers displayed a peculiar demonstration with the coffin as they match in.

The funeral started at about 10:00 a.m. One of the striking demonstration during the funeral was when the women of the church did a marching performance in respect of the late woman.

After the marching, the women carried the coffin and danced round the compound of the deceased. The demise of this woman was such a painful one that a lot of people cried during the funeral including myself.

At the end of the burial proper according to the church program, a procession was made to the grave side. This was the height of the occasion. Many people cried at that period. The coffin was taken by the men to the grave side accompanied by the choir, the ministers, the church members and every other person.

The coffin was lowered into the ground and everyone bidded farewell to the woman. May her soul rest in peace. Immediately after seeing that I couldn't hold myself anymore so I left to my house and locked myself while crying and slept off. We really miss the woman because she was such a good person.

By the time I woke up it was night already and everyone had gone.

MY ADVICE

Live a life that matters, live a life that inspires, live a life that leaves a lasting Legacy of love, kindness and compassion.
