Has Internet over usage affected your personal relationships or other important activities?
In today's modern age, the internet has now come to be an integral part of our normal life lives. It has change the way we do communicate, work, and even socialize with others. However, with the rising use of electronic devices and the internet, there has been an increase in concerns about the impact of the over-usage on personal relationships and important activities.
How long do you use your electronic devices in a day and how long do you stay away from electronics?
Personally, I find myself having to spend a longer period of time on electronic devices each day. I use my phone for different purposes like checking emails, social media, steemit and entertainment. On average, I spend like about 7-9 hours using my electronic devices each day. This constant connectivity means that I am always in reach with the internet, which can at times a leads to missing important face-to-face interactions with some friends and family.
The over-usage of electronic devices has of course affected my personal relationships. I usually find myself being distracted during
some conversations or social gatherings because I am always checking my phone or responding to some notifications. This behavior can cause others to feel like there are ignored or unimportant, leading to unbalanced relationships. To add, the immoderate use of electronic devices can also have effect with quality time which can be spent with loved ones, as I may orefer to scroll through social media rather than engage in helping conversations.
Not only has the internet over-usage affected my personal relationships, but it has also affected other necessary activities in my life. For instance, I have noticed a stop in productivity at work because of the constant distractions from emails, social media, and online browsing. This could lead to missed deadlines, incomplete tasks, and even inefficiency. Furthermore, the excessive screen time has also taken am effect on my physical and mental health, resulting in problems like eye strain, headaches, and sleep disturbances.
What are the side effects of electronic additions? Explain.
The side effects of electronic addictions are uncountable and can have detrimental effects on both our personal and professional lives.
Constantly checking electronic devices can cause distractions and a lack of focus, causing a decreased productivity at work or even In school.
Excessive internet usage can also cause neglect of personal relationships, bringing the feelings of isolation and disconnection.
Prolonged screen time can also cause physical health problems which are eye strain, headaches, and musculoskeletal issues, as well as mental health issues like anxiety and depression. There are so mane other side effects but these are the ones I can give for now
In what ways can we prevent electronic additions? (Explain 5 ways)
To prevent electronic addictions and take away the negative effect on personal relationships and important activities, below are five ways to maintain a healthy balance:
- Set boundaries: creat limits on screen time and designate a particular times to disconnect from electronic devices, which are during the period of meals or before bedtime.
- Practice mindfulness: Be careful of your screen time and how it is affecting your relationships and activities. Take breaks to have an engagement in offline activities such as hobbies, exercise, or spending time with loved ones.
- Turn off notifications: Disable some unimportant notifications on your devices to reduce disturbance and prevent the constant urge to check your phone.
- Create tech-free zones: Designate some part in your home or workplace where electronic devices are not permitted, such as the dinner table or bedroom.
- Seek support: If you see that your internet over-usage is becoming an addiction ask support from friends, family, or a good counselor to help you establish healthier habits and boundaries.
