SEC17 WK:#2: your family and leisure activities

Leisure or recreation, which one? I think both serves the same purpose or to an extent are related.

Leisure has to do with your spare time which you do not have any planned activities for. That time is just for you to do what pleases or appeals to you the most.

Recreation has to do with activities that you enjoy engaging with either as an individual, a family or with group friends.

My family's view of recreation

Recreation is an important part of the activities of the day Just like food is of major importance to the sustenance and happiness of the family, so is recreation.

In fact, one of the major discussions which I have with my family members is about recreation and leisure activities as a family. My children are very much interested in what we are going to do during recreation as a family. Each member of the family has their own opinion as to how it can and should be, we will them discuss it together before arriving at one that suits and favors each member of the family.

So for every arrangement we make as a family, how to spend our time during recreation must also form part of the overall discussion. This is of major interest to my children because my children love recreation a lot.

Forms of recreation in my household.

In my family, we do a lot of things for recreation spanning from the ones that we would not even spend money on, the ones that are less expensive and some that take real money.

My family's recreational activity can be in the form of playing indoor games like ludo game, whot game, football games on tablets, know your Bible characters games and so on.

It could also mean watching some beautifully plotted movies. I love Nigerian movies while my husband and my son loves foreign movies, my daughter on the other hand loves all. We work hard to enjoy what others love in the family.

Other forms of recreation adopted is by cooking sumptuous meals together as a family. My children loves this part a lot. It always comes with eatables to enjoy. It could be a preparation of some special delicacy like Isi Ewu Goat head, etc.

The ones mentioned above are basically indoor recreational activities.

For outdoor recreation, we do arrange to go visit some special spots within the city or outside where we live. When a family member have an occasion, it is an opportunity to enjoy ourselves as a family. So we make solid arrangements to get the best from our time spent where we traveled to.

We do also organize football matches and games with friends, bringing along some light refreshment when doing so.

We also arrange to visit parks, zoos, malls, cinema, beaches, etc. all these are forms of recreational or leisure activities we enjoy as a family.

People Involved

When the recreation is in outdoor form, my family loves doing that with other people. It could be our family friends or other acquaintances, whom we are close to.

There are some indoor recreational activity we also enjoy with others like sharing meals together with them, playing games, etc.

So most at times, we get the best when we share such moments with others.

Conclusion

Recreation and leisure activities are key in bonding families together and strengthening the cords of friendship. It opens a way for you to understand your children and help them see the bright part of life.
