Greetings of peace and joy to all my Steemian friends around the world. It has been a long journey with you all. Today, I would like to share our activity at school today.

ORAL READING BY GRADE 1 PUPILS

Every school year, my first goal for my pupils is to know how to read, write and arithmetic. I believe that its hard for a pupil to get a score if they don't know how to read and write. For the first month of the school year I am focusing on alphabet sounds before let them read syllables. Numbers will insert in every activity so that the three will be learned at the same time. When I reach the monthly goal I proceed to the next goal.

Before we start our class every morning, I let them read in unison the short story I let them write the other day. They have a white notebook intended for reading but others use other color of the notebook. While they are reading in unison, I carefully listen to them one by one though it's hard but I tried to look at the position of their mouth.

I gave them advance question about the story and they will study it at home. Because of the given questions, they will force to read the story,too, with the guidance of their parents.

I also choose one pupil per day to stand in front and read a short paragraph. This is also to develop their confidence. While one is reading in front, I let everyone listen to the pupil reading in front. Some pupils who have confidence already, they are very excited to take turns, but others are still shy.

Every month I assessed their reading one by one and note what level in reading they can reach. Today, I assessed their reading for the month of April. Since there are one month left before before the school year ends, I am expecting them progressing every month. Though I know they can read independent, but I am not complacent. I follow up every day the progress I am noting so they will be able to read and comprehend respectively. While they have an activity as a class, I randomly call them to read a story per day in front of me.

I prepare one story per day. A story with short paragraph. I also prepared questions to see if they understand what they are reading.

At the end of this assessment, from my 35 pupils assessed, two absent, I have 27 independent readers, and the rest is dependent readers. With this result, I am happy to know that most of them is improving and that I call it a success as a first grader teacher. I know, when they reach the next grade they can cope the changes because they now can read and write. We still have one month left to do better amd enjoy the rest of the days.

This has been my diary game today.
I am inviting @comfortpeter @uzma4882 @bellany to pass by my diary game and maybe somehow write your diary game too.

Thank you all for reading.
Have a nice day and May God bless us all.

Truly,

@jes88
