Huawei was one of the biggest tech companies in the world. I mean, it is still in a few regions, such as China and Asian countries. I remember the time when many people used Huawei, especially when the Huawei P30 series was released. Many people bought P30 lite smartphones. In Sri Lanka, Huawei smartphones won't sell that much. I saw a Huawei P60 for 180K, which is better value for price but people won't go for it because of the Google thing.

Anyway, that's not the case. Huawei released its newest flagship series. it is not P70 series. It is "Pura" now. I don't know whether the new naming would make any difference in sales. There are 4 smartphones in the series. And this is the review of the Ultra...

The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra has an outstanding triangular camera layout, excellent build quality, and an eye-catching design. It has a luxurious appearance thanks to its glass front, aluminum frame, and silicone polymer back with an eco-leather finish. The phone is quite thin for its size, weighing 226g and having a thickness of 8.4mm. An ultrasonic under-display optical fingerprint sensor is also integrated into the device for safe and practical biometric authentication.

The 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display on the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a resolution of 1.5K. With 1 billion colors supported and high dynamic range (HDR), this display provides brilliant colors for gaming and multimedia consumption. The screen is also incredibly bright, with a peak brightness of up to 2500 nits for HDR content and 600 nits for normal use. This brightness allows for easy reading of the screen even in direct sunlight. For added durability, Gorilla Glass Victus is also used to protect the display.

The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is powered by the Kirin 9010 chipset, built on a 7nm process, featuring an octa-core CPU configuration along with Mali-G910 GPU for graphics. The node size of 7 nm is approximately 4 years old. Due to its lack of access to American technology, Huawei is unable to produce high-performance processors with improved power efficiency. It is available in three different configurations: 256GB with 16GB RAM, 512GB with 16GB RAM, and 1TB with 16GB RAM. These configurations guarantee seamless operation and sufficient storage to meet your requirements.

The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra boasts an impressive camera setup, headlined by a retractable main camera featuring a 50 MP sensor with a unique mechanical design, sensor-shift stabilization, variable aperture lens, and laser-assisted autofocus. This camera is complemented by a 50 MP telephoto camera capable of 3.5x optical zoom and up to 10x hybrid zoom, including macro photography from just 5cm away. Additionally, there's a 40 MP ultrawide camera with a 13mm aperture lens and autofocus capability, offering a wide field of view. The 13 MP selfie camera also supports autofocus and has a wide-angle lens. These cameras are packed with advanced features, promising exceptional imaging performance.

The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is powered by a powerful 5,200mAh battery that provides extended use on a single charge. What distinguishes this device is its impressive charging capabilities, which include 100W wired charging, 80W wireless charging, and 20W reverse wireless charging. This means you can quickly charge your device to full capacity, making it ideal for users who are constantly on the move.

Huawei smartphones have faced a number of challenges, most notably ongoing US sanctions that limit access to Google Mobile Services and key hardware components. This has reduced the global availability and appeal of Huawei devices. Furthermore, Huawei's software ecosystem, HarmonyOS, is still developing and may not provide the same level of app support as established platforms such as Android or iOS. Despite these obstacles, Huawei continues to innovate with impressive hardware, such as the Pura 70 Ultra, demonstrating their commitment to pushing the boundaries of the smartphone industry.
