Introduction

"It's never over until it's over."

This is what I told myself after seeing I was late for this contest.

Hello my fellow steemians. Hope we all are doing okay today. I'd like to specially thank @sahmie for organizing this amazing contest in the community.

Do you think homework helps you remember what you learned in school?

Homework is great form of reiterating what we are taught in school. When I was much younger, I used to see it as a terrible form of punishment. Sometimes, I was literally disciplined to do it.

But now, nobody has to force me to do anything, because I know the benefits it comes with.

Even when I don’t have the time to go over my notes, having to do my assignment would give me the opportunity to refer to my notes to see what the teacher expects of me, and how. That way, I get to remember what I learned in class.

How do you feel when you have a lot of homework?

I feel overwhelmed. There was once I had series of homework to do and submit, and it wasn’t easy for me. Some months back, there were about three heavy homeworks I had to submit in the same week. In my mind, I believed I had enough time. That way, I kept procrastinating. When that week finally came, I ended up having sleepless nights, just so I could submit all of them in time.

That’s one disadvantage that comes with giving a deadline to when a homework should be submitted. When I was in my primary and secondary school, homeworks were submitted the next day. But when I started the university, I noticed deadlines were given. And so, I became relaxed that I even forgot that I had something to do sometimes.

It took discipline to have a shift of the mindset.

Can you think of ways homework could be made more useful or enjoyable?

Homework can be made more useful and enjoyable when:
The teacher assesses what the student does:

  • The teacher makes it interactive.
  • The teacher makes it rewarding.
  • The teacher, with the co-operation of the students make efforts to apply in their daily basis what they've been asked to do.

Conclusion

I have developed a culture that embraces homework now, and more often. It engages the mind, and makes it productive subconsciously.

I would like to invite @saintkelvin17, @josepha and @bela90 to participate in this contest.

Thanks for reading through.
