INTRODUCTION

Good day you all I'm glad to write to you guys once again. I've always wanted to share this experience with people but I tend to feel a little bad about myself cause if I should look back to when I started learning the keyboard and where I am now it's not something fun to talk about. But I'm still thankful cause I'm still good at what I do.

WHAT INSPIRED ME TO LEARN THE KEYBOARD

It was a long time but I still remember it as if it was just yesterday. It was a Sunday while I was in church, a regular member of the church, when it was time for the choir to take over the pulpit to glorify God's name the choir mistress started with a simple worship song and the keyboardist followed by playing melodies that touched me like I've never felt before. While she was playing I was just in my seat listening to every key she touched and that was when I told myself that I'll love to be on that seat one day playing that instrument.. and this was years back before now.

Fortunately for me after that month that our church keyboardist inspired me the next month was her wedding where she would be taken to her husband's house and church which left that seat vacant. So for the first few months I dedicated my time to YouTube videos that taught the keyboard and looked for people who are better than me to also learn from them. It was tough YES it was very tough. But after those few months I was able to play worship songs on the keyboard and I also sat on that seat that I've always wanted to sit on but that was where the real journey began.

MY FLAWS

Even when I have started playing worships on the keyboard I still had a lot of challenges. Challenges like;

  • Playing Hymns

  • Playing praise Jams

  • Vamping

  • Soloing

  • Ministration

  • Playing on All Keys

  • Ear training

*Not been able to play the circle of forth etc

There was a lot of things I wasn't good at back then and that made my choir mistress and every other choristers to look down on me as if I was just there wasting my time doing nothing.

But I thank God for the kind of person he made me to be cause I never gave up. The more they criticized me, the more I was persistent in learning and learning so I could be as good as even better than the person that inspired me to play the keyboard. But it was no easy task until I met my Mentor who taught me and who is still teaching me till date.

PROGRESS

My mentor goes by the name SHOGBADE DAVID ENITAN popularly know as ENNY KEYS. He was not just my mentor he was also a friend and also a brother because he taught me in a way that only patience can teach someone. Even when he knew that I was slow in learning he was still patiently repeating that same thing over and over again until I get it.

I can remember when he almost lost his patience when he was teaching me how to play on all Keys using the (TT ST TTT ST) formula which I still find funny up till now that I found very difficult back then. But he was still a brother and a mentor.

That was the period I knew how to play on most keys and was able to transpose to get the key of the singer on stage and was able to play most of the things I found difficulty in playing and my choir mistress was been pleased with me.

As time went by I was getting the hang of playing the keyboard it was a thing of joy for me because I have acquired my long time dream of been a pianist which was a thing of joy for me.

But that was not all I was introduced to other Amazing keyboardist in the likes; Humble Keys, Chibuzor D'elect, Levi, Emmy fingers, Lucky and so many more. I was opportuned to meet some famous Artist in the likes of; Ada, Tim Godfrey, Abbey Ojumo, and so on that I was also opportuned to learn a thing or two from their keyboardist which was mesmerizing and inspiring.

SUCCESS AT LAST

Now I am confident on myself that if I should go on stage with the little knowledge I have on music I would be able to play that instrument to my heart content thanks to the people that mentored and pushed me to the best of my ability and for that I am very grateful. It took a lot of stress and I almost even gave up on myself but thanks to the people who got my back I was able to come out successful.

CONCLUSION

When I started I never taught that I'll be able to get to this point. I'm really grateful to those that pushed me beyond my ability cause I believe that with outmost determination, nothing is impossible… thank you so much for having to read through the journey I had, I really appreciate, @jeph001 @jozzie90 @toflex @bossjay @goodybest @tripsy
