This issue of firmness is very important, let alone us becoming a leader, we are men, we need firmness. And the key to that firmness is consistency.
This is my message to the gentlemen who sit in parliament, Don't be firm and choose between people, only those who can be acted upon can you be firm. Same as those above, you never want to be firm. A leader must be firm. I have a story, and I want to share it with my friends here.
Sometimes people, because they are so firm, are out of place.
There was this one time, we were working typing, drawing the latest Aceh bag model, we were printing in the work room, suddenly the lights went out, without any prior notice. I mean without any sign. If someone dies, there is a sign. But this was no sign, suddenly died. We as a society who are working, feel disadvantaged. We didn't have time to save, we downloaded the image somewhere, we didn't save it and it was gone. Finally, my boss got angry and called me straight away.
"Hello! Hey, you're rude, we're working, suddenly you turn off the electricity, no clear reason, no clear sign, we're the ones who lose. We pay for electricity every month, you just want to take the money".
We, the employees, were scared at that time.
Then from there he answered,
"Sir, this is from the PELNI office, not the PLN office".
But because he was already angry, he continued his anger😂
"It's the same, you're PELNI, if you say you'll come at 9, suddenly you come at 12".
So in my opinion, if you have to be firm, don't be picky, but according to the rules. Yes, from the story earlier, the impression was that only the boss can be firm, or the one who can get angry is the boss, if for example a subordinate, he has been fired. There is a rumor, there are 3 things you should not fight:
The first: Your boss, because he will be angry
The second: Rich people
The third: Crazy people. Well, you can't, how can you fight crazy people.
It turns out that there are actually four things that should not be fought, one more is a humorous person. If a humorous person is angry, it is a pity for the angry person, because a humorous person will respond humorously. It is very pitiful, how disappointed the angry person will be, if he realizes he is angry.
Then also, regarding work, we also have to protest. I once wanted to join the navy, but was not accepted. Because they said, there was one requirement, I couldn't swim. In the end I failed to enter, then I protested. I said this, do you know the air force? People who can't fly, also entered, sir, aka accepted, so sometimes I feel that the government is not fair to us lower class people.
Okay, I will be serious, before we take the wrong step later, what I will explain. Okay, I will talk about the definition, for example a firm official. What is an official? An official is an employee who holds an important position. So he can be in the position of a superior, right, that's an official. Well, the name of an official must be an important person, if the people, what is important is the person.
Do you know the difference between a leader and a boss? Like this, if a leader is, he leads anyone by giving an example, a leader invites others, by giving an example. If a boss is, a boss invites others, whether they like it or not, to do it.
They are different, just one word can differentiate a leader and a boss. For example, if the boss says to you "go".
That's a boss. But if a leader says, "let's go". Because why? He has to give an example, well that's a leader. I used to be a gado-gado trader. Alhamdulillah when it was busy, the income could reach 3 million, but when it was quiet, I got 1 million. Actually, it wasn't a matter of income, I didn't really mind, fortune also came from God, right? But peace of mind at work, I traded on the side of the road and was chased out. Then I traded in a busy area, in front of a shop, like an electronics shop. I traded in front of it, I was chased out by the Satpol PP.
Then I moved into the shop, I was chased out by the shop owner. Finally I traded in the middle of the road, hawking, thank God, people came, they dragged me to the side of the road, I thought they wanted to buy, but instead I was dragged to the side of the sidewalk. Well, that was my struggle and experience before, before working as an Aceh bag maker like now.
Back to the officials, now I ask, what is the difference between officials and the people? The difference is, when officials come they are welcomed by the people, but when the people come, the officials leave. This is troublesome, this is troublesome for us, even though let's say we are the people, or in other words, superiors and subordinates. Meaning, they are officials, superiors, we are the people, subordinates. In fact, subordinates are more important than superiors.
Just imagine, which would you rather choose, wearing a shirt or not wearing pants? So, what I mean is, to the officials there, yes our complaint, give us peace in working, the important thing is that we do not disturb others. Sometimes it's like this, this sword, like being baited. At first it was left alone, it turned out that when it was crowded, it was thrown out. Why not when it was first thrown out. If one was not thrown out, after it was crowded then it was thrown out, that's called being firm.
Leaders do have to set an example, but in a company structure. For example, a leader doesn't always have to be in front. In fact, the leader of a company or an institution is in front, there is something wrong. Because the person in front is usually the receptionist or security. So if you enter a company, for example, and meet the leader in front, maybe you are wrong, maybe you entered through the back, that must be examined.
I give an example to small children. I never shout, speak loudly to small children, never. If a child does something wrong, I just glare. Without speaking loudly, without shouting, just glare. In my entire life, I have never pinched a small child, let alone hit them, meaning we must set an example. because I am a person who likes small children, small children are what they are, and we as parents, can guide them.
Now I will talk about the context, what is respected?
Now this is important. Respected, new people are afraid, if the official comes, it means respected. So for example, with a tiger we are afraid, not afraid, because if there is a tiger we will tend to avoid it. If respected, it's different, we don't have to avoid that person, with our leader, but we respect him. But there are officials who are feared and respected, namely officials who come bringing tigers. That can be feared at the same time, respected. Well, the criteria for a good leader, in my opinion, is a healthy mind. Because if the mind is sick, everything is sick, and it will also have an impact on the community, and that must be watched out for and anticipated. So a firm and wise leader is, in my opinion, depending on the level, the situation being led.
For example, he is the leader of a group, which is still new, or the company is still new, or the country must be revived. Then the leader must take the initiative role, and so on. That's about 70%. So he must be full of initiative, full of ideas.
Then give an example, because if you just give orders, it can't work. But if this organization is running, its people are getting better. So the leader must reduce his portion to around 50%, let the community's initiative appear. The initiative of the lower levels that appear, later after more advanced, the leader must reduce his role, maybe only 30%, and so on. So the point is it doesn't have to be full of initiative, depending on the stage of the journey, that's a wise leader in leading.
