Forgotten.. Two examples of the benefit...

How wonderful it is to forget. It's an opportunity to simply just forget.
Or to remember...............
...
My mother. A good example.
Later in life my dear mother developed Alzheimer. It may have been from the aluminum pots she used for sixty years. They were a prize for winning first place in a baby photo contest. My baby photo. So sorry Mum. She was so proud she used those pots for all those years. They had huge pock marks where the aluminum had interacted with the foods being cooked. Better you had not won.

Mum was a worrier. Super sensitive to others and overreactive to just about everything and everyone. When the disease appeared her memory started to fail. She actually developed a great sense of humor and since she couldn't remember what she was upset about she forgot to get upset altogether. Her jokes were very, very funny. And you never knew when she would pipe up with one. Forgetting was a great blessing and she was able to leave this world at age ninety-one very peacefully. RIP
....
Another example of the great blessing of forgetting.
I read the Vedic scriptures as much as possible. Especially the Bhagavad gita. There is actually a verse in the gita glorifying forgetting by connecting it with the mercy of God.
"I am seated in everyone's heart, and from Me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness...." BG 15.15

My experience is that even though I read the Gita constantly I forget what I have read. Then when I read the same thing again it is like meeting an old friend I had forgotten. It is very sweet and takes on newer and deeper significance. Like this verse BG 15.15 reading it today writing this short essay.
I am ever amazed...
