Dedicated Server Setup and Purpose

Two weeks ago, I purchased a dedicated server from ColoCrossing as part of their Black Friday deal for $17 per month. After some deliberation, I decided on the purpose of this server:

  1. Second RPC Node: It is now running as https://api2.justyy.com.
  2. Second Seed Node: It also serves as seed2.justyy.com:2001.

For a complete list of my nodes, see: My Witness Nodes

Performance and Usage Notes

The server is operating smoothly. As a best practice, I’ve also configured it as a backup witness production node. However, it is not suitable as a primary production node due to potential block misses when the server experiences high API request loads, leading to network latency.

Load Balancer Candidate Nodes

This new server has been added as a candidate node for the following Load Balancers or Proxy Nodes:

When you send a GET request to the Load Balancer, you’ll receive a list of the current candidate RPC nodes:

Benefits of a Second RPC Node

Adding a second RPC node significantly improves the resiliency of Steem Apps. For example, the Load Balancer is used in applications hosted on SteemYY.com, ensuring higher availability and fault tolerance for users.
