Herbal medicine has its origins in ancient cultures. Several herbal medicines can be used to treat simple diseases such as colds, inflammation, and pain. Although these are not supported by research, scientists suggest that these remedies work properly. We used a home treatment at some point of herbal tea for colds, essential oil to dull a headache, and plant-based supplements for a better night's sleep. Now, read my submission to find out what my thoughts on this matter are.

Herbal Tea Preparation: Prepare a herbal tea for digestion or stress/anxiety. Documenting the steps, proportions, and effects felt after drinking them.?

Herbal Tea Preparation

Herbal teas are a great way to relax and support digestion. Here is how to make a simple herbal tea that aids digestion or reduces stress.

Herbal Tea for Digestion

Ingredients:

• 1 teaspoon dried peppermint leaves
• 1 teaspoon dried ginger (or a small piece of fresh ginger)

Steps:

First, pour a boiled cup of water into a mug. Then put peppermint leaves powder and ginger in the boiling water. Next, cover the mug and allow it to stay for 5 – 6 minutes. Then strain the tea into a separate mug and enjoy.

Effects Felt: After drinking this tea, many people get a warming sensation in their stomachs. Ginger can help with bloating, while peppermint has been shown to relieve stomach cramps.

Herbal Tea for stress/anxiety

Ingredients:

• 1 teaspoon dried ginger (or a small piece of fresh ginger)
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon stick or powder
• 5-6 fresh curry leaves

Steps:

First get a cup of water. Add ginger, cinnamon, and curry leaves to it. Then boil it 5 – 10 minutes in a low heat. Next strain the tea into a new mug taking out the ginger, cinnamon, and curry leaves. If you want to taste it sweeter, add a small amount of honey.

Effects Felt:

Ginger aids digestion and warms the body, whereas cinnamon promotes circulation. While curry leaves help to alleviate stress and add a distinct flavor to the tea. I use it regularly because it is widely available in Sri Lanka.

Herbal Storage: Research the best ways to store herbs at home; take pictures of your storage method and explain why it works.

Herbal Storage

When herbs are stored properly, they remain fresh and never lose their medicinal qualities. I store my herbs in airtight glass or plastic bottles. I properly mark them and store them in a cool, dry cabinet away from direct sunlight.

Why This Works:

Glass or plastic jars protect herbs from moisture and air, preventing them from losing flavor and energy. Keeping them in a dark place protects them from the sun while also preserving their color, smell, and medicinal qualities.

Home Remedy Creation: Create your own herbal remedy for a common cold documenting the ingredients, preparation steps, and your experience.
Herbal Remedy for Common Cold

Ingredients:

• 1 teaspoon honey
• 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
• 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
• Juice of half a lemon

Steps:

First, place the honey, cinnamon, and ginger in a small cup. Then, add the lemon juice and stir thoroughly. Next, I drink that mixture twice a day, one teaspoon each.

Experience: This treatment helps to find relief from sore throat problems. Ginger and honey help to soothe the throat, while cinnamon improves the immune system and fights infections. Vitamin C found in lemon helps to support the immune system.

Herbal Remedy for Digestion

Ingredients:

• teaspoon fennel seeds
• 1 cup boiling water

Steps:

First, boil the water, then add half a teaspoon of fennel. Then boil for about 10 minutes. Next drink it after straining.

Experience:

This fennel tea may reduce bloating and promote digestion. It has a pleasant, sweet flavor and a relaxing impact on the stomach.

Herbal Infusion Experiment: Infuse two different herbs (one for digestion and one for stress/anxiety) in water. Document the process, duration, and your thoughts on the end result

Herbal Infusion Experiment

For this experiment, I used peppermint for digestion and Gotu Kola (Centella Asiatica) for stress relief.

Peppermint Tea for Digestion

First, I add one teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves powder to a mug, followed by cool water. I allow it to soak in water for about 4-5 hours.

Result:

This simple drink has a lovely taste. This drink helps to reduce bloating and help digestion.

Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) tea for Stress Relief

Gotu Kola (Centella Asiatica) is widely available in Sri Lanka therefore I prepare Gotu Kola tea constantly to release stress. This is how it prepares.

Ingredients:

A small handful of fresh Gotu Kola leaves.

Process:

First, thoroughly wash a small handful of Gotu Kola leaves, then add two cups of cool water and cover it for 4 - 6 hours, allowing the flavors and nutrients to absorb into the water. Next, remove the leaves in the cup, and drink that infused water.

End Result:

The water mixed with Gotu Kola has an earthy flavor. Drinking this in the evening helps to refresh and calm. It also helps to reduce stress and promotes relaxation. On the other hand, Gotu Kola is considered as good for the brain. It helps to increase mental clarity and focus. If you want to get rid of the stress, it is an ideal drink.
