You might recall how we were recently talking about a very well-behaved dog that was being looked after by a community to a minimal sense but "no home" had fallen on tough times with being diagnosed with cancer, having been poisoned at least once, and living on the streets and depending on people in the neighborhood for water and food. Thankfully the community was giving her food and at least somewhat looking after her.

This story ended up getting re-posted all over the internet and miraculously, someone reached out to us and now "no home" is going to be soon going to her forever home with a family in Thailand.

Unfortunately it is very rare that this sort of thing happens. We feature down on their luck dogs on a regular basis but so few of them actually get adopted. One of the major reasons why this happened was because since we started operations years ago, a very large portion of our adoptions came from overseas and regulations have become more strict since those days to the point where it is impossible, or very expensive to relocate a dog to another country. One of the worst was Australia who necessitates at 3 month quarantine in a "qualified country" (Thailand is not considered that) followed by a 3-month quarantine in Australia. Obviously this is massively expensive so since that went into place we have never had a successful adoption to that country.

I guess the story of "no home" hit people just the right way because our very limited ability to let the world know about our plight apparently resonated with people that have a much greater reach than we do as far as social media is concerned. A family that wished to remain anonymous has adopted her and soon she will begin the journey to another part of Thailand where she will live with a family and receive regular food and water as well as medical care.

I gotta say, while we are absolutely delighted any time one of our rescues gets adopted, we are definitely going to miss her. She is a very unique soul who despite not having a great deal of ease and love in her life, is just so willing to shower you with kisses and loyalty at all times. Dogs truly are amazing creatures because to have this big of a heart after the world basically turned its back on you your entire life, is just incredible.

All of us here at Krabi Animal Welfare are just delighted that she has recovered from her illnesses including cancer and is soon going to be heading to a home the likes of which she has never known. Special thanks to everyone out there that helped us to get the word out because ultimately, this is the best possible outcome for any of the dogs that we look after.
