Ambulance in Germany

At the beginning of the year, I had an accident and had to go to hospital with the ambulance service. In Bavaria, one of the rescue services comes to an emergency, either an aid organisation such as the German Red Cross, a private rescue company or the fire brigade. In my case, the firefighters came. I was very grateful because they suspected that either my spine or a kidney might be injured. That's why they had to transport me very carefully. I was admitted directly to the hospital and first an X-ray film was taken and then an ultrasound scan. Fortunately, I only had a severe bruise on my pelvic bone.
Years ago, I had another accident and also had to go to hospital. Fortunately, it was only a bruise, although the car was a declared as total damage at the time.
I have also lived in other countries and can say that things are still good here in Germany. Still, because you can feel the shortage of skilled labour and in some places there are discounts on recruitment. Otherwise, a lot of emphasis is placed on maximising profits if you are insured with the statutory health insurance scheme. Even with these problems, you are treated very well in most cases and emergencies are prioritised.
There is also a good culture here, for example, a rescue lane is always formed in a traffic jam. That helps the emergency services a lot. I've lived in the United States and have never experienced anything like that. Another thing that exists here is the volunteer fire brigade, which works on a voluntary basis and is not paid. I also like the motto of the volunteer fire brigade: To honour God - to defend the next (person).
After the experiences of the last few years, I am grateful to live here and can confirm why the fire service is the profession with the highest trust rating of 93%.

Anfang des Jahres hatte ich einen Unfall und musste mit dem Rettungsdienst ins Krankenhaus. In Bayern kommt bei einem Notfall einer der Rettungsdienste, entweder eine Hilfsorganisation wie das Deutsche Rote Kreuz, ein privates Rettungsunternehmen oder die Feuerwehr. Bei mir kam die Feuerwehr. Ich war sehr dankbar, denn es bestand der Verdacht, dass entweder meine Wirbelsäule oder eine Niere verletzt sein könnte. Deshalb mussten sie mich sehr vorsichtig transportieren. Im Krankenhaus wurde ich direkt aufgenommen und zuerst wurde ein Röntgenfilm gemacht und dann eine Ultraschalluntersuchung. Zum Glück hatte ich nur eine starke Prellung am Beckenknochen.
Vor Jahren hatte ich einen anderen Unfall und musste auch ins Krankenhaus. Zum Glück war es auch da nur eine Prellung, obwohl das Auto damals ein Totalschaden war.
Ich habe auch in anderen Ländern gelebt und kann sagen, dass es hier in Deutschland noch gut ist. Noch, denn man spürt den Fachkräftemangel und an manchen Stellen wird bei der Einstellung Rabatt gemacht. Ansonsten wird sehr viel Wert auf Gewinnmaximierung gelegt, wenn man in der gesetzlichen Krankenkasse versichert ist. Auch mit diesen Problemen wird man in den meisten Fällen sehr gut behandelt und Notfälle haben Vorrang.
Es gibt hier auch eine gute Kultur, zum Beispiel wird bei einem Stau immer eine Rettungsgasse gebildet. Das hilft den Einsatzkräften sehr. Ich habe in den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika gelebt und habe so etwas noch nie erlebt. Was es hier auch gibt, ist die Freiwillige Feuerwehr, die ehrenamtlich tätig ist, also nicht bezahlt wird. Mir gefällt auch der Leitspruch der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr: Gott zur Ehr’ - dem Nächsten zur Wehr.
