Recently, I was reading a bedtime story to my baby, looking for some interesting stories. For example, this Song Dynasty UFO sighting recorded in official history today is very special.

UFO events are always very topical, and even the US Congress often holds so-called UFO hearings, revealing bits of information to satisfy the curiosity of the public. While the vast majority of UFO sightings have a reasonable scientific explanation, there are some records that even the government admits cannot be explained. Although Ufos are dominated by modern and contemporary records, the phenomenon actually spans time and space. In ancient times, especially China, a civilization with a detailed written record of its history, recorded some UFO sightings.

One of the most interesting is a UFO sighting recorded in the official history of the Song Dynasty - the "hat demon" incident in the Northern Song Dynasty Zhenzong. The cause of the incident was a UFO sighting at night in Luoyang, the eastern capital of the time. According to eyewitness descriptions, the shape of the UFO is similar to the official hat of the Song Dynasty, which emits red light and flies very fast. These descriptions are very similar to modern UFO sightings.

But the rumors started to spread from the witnesses, and gradually lost their way. What started out as Ufos, gradually evolved into these Ufos that would turn into wolf-monsters coming down to catch people. For a time, Luoyang residents were terrified, and even organized a special patrol composed of unmarried young men to catch the demon, because people believed that these unmarried young men were the most masculine, the easiest to restrain the "hat demon."

The rumor did not die down, but spread like a virus to neighboring areas. Soon after, Emperor Zhenzong received a report of the incident. Emperor Zhenzong took this matter seriously, not because he was a fan of UFO science fiction, but because he was alarmed by reports of self-organized armed patrols. The reason why the Song Dynasty was able to end the chaos of the five dynasties and ten States was that Song Taizu abolished the military power, deprived the military power of the local governor, set up a forbidden army, and the general power was in his own hands.

Since the incident was reported by officials in nearby Luoyang, where the incident originated, officials in Luoyang did not voluntarily report the social unrest to the court, which made the emperor feel that the local officials in Luoyang were suspected of lazy governance. So they sent someone down to investigate the Hat-demon incident. After the investigation team came to Luoyang, the local officials did not have any political consciousness, only said that they had never heard of such a thing, but that the people under the false information.

The investigation team naturally knew that the emperor was not concerned about the authenticity of the UFO, but worried about the spread of rumors among the people. But the way to deal with this is to have a reputation, or start with the UFO incident. So in Luoyang squatting for a few days, these days just like the UFO hiding from this gang of imperial officers, did not appear.

However, the UFO in Luoyang did not appear in Luoyang, but went straight to Kaifeng, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty. The rumors also spread to the Song capital, and the rumors became even more bizarre: Hat-monsters came and went without trace, flew extremely fast through the air, and transformed into werewolves, not only catching people but also eating them. The people of the capital were terrified, and finally even the Forbidden Army was alarmed. In the evening, the whole Tokyo Kaifeng city is noisy with drums, and people beat gongs and drums to drive away monsters. The whole Forbidden army camp also seemed to be on the battlefield, and the soldiers shouted killing one after another, which frightened the Emperor Zhenzong.
