The good part of the year has begun and with that we also see that the amount of trash in the public places have also increased. People get on to the beaches to spend their evenings, do barbeques. It's good to have fun in open environment but at the same time one also has to be mindful how one takes care of the place that they are in.

Yesterday along with a group of other like minded volunteers we decided to go for beach cleaning. One of the lady, drives these initiatives, and she received a call from some fisherman from one of the beach areas asking for help. They mentioned that their side of the beach has become very dirty and they need help with volunteers who can assist in cleaning up the beach. We could quickly gather up around 40 volunteers for the activity, though for the amount of work the numbers were less. The area that had to be cleaned up was almost 2 kms so we were looking at close to 50 volunteers, but since this request came at a very short notice we could manage getting 40 people somehow.

We also had a group of 15 girls joining us from the school. The teacher was kind enough to consider this last minute request and gather up 15 girls to come over. Also being a Saturday morning not many would opt to come. Anyways we could do a lot of work with the resources we had. The beach that we had to clean up was the Sifah Beach. It is almost 1.5 hrs away from the city, the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture were kind enough to arrange a bus for us to go there and come back. We started our journey at 6.30 a.m., we wanted to make it early since later in the day it gets hot and inconvenient to be on the beach.

Look at this beautiful place, it is heaven on earth. Why can't we preserve it just the way it is.

There was all types of trash on the beach, bottles, masks, cans, ropes and what not. In all I could clean up 5 buckets of trash...phewww...that was quite a task once the sun came up.

There were some children also who accompanied their parents and they too did their bit. Such conscious souls is all I can say for them.

We must have filled up almost 30 such big trash bags. After filling them up we had to just gather them up in one place and the municipality guys would come and pick up the trash.

Look at this beautiful place, how can one think of polluting it

What we will preserve today our future generations will cherish. It is solely our responsibility to take care of our nature by doing our bit. All the time we cannot put everything on the civic bodies of the city. In a way it is also one's general habits that reflect out in open as well. For those who are mindful about cleanliness in their homes will also take good care when they are outside, but there are many who treat their homes also like trash cans throwing around things here and there, and those very people are careless outside as well.

We need to leave this world as a better place for our future generations so that they can also enjoy the nature in the manner as we are doing right now.
