Crown Of Thorns (Paliurus Spina-christi)

The crown of thorns, scientific name paliurus spina-christi, is a species of paliurus native to the Mediterranean region and central and southwest Asia.

It is also known as the thorn of Jerusalem, garland thorn or thorn of Christ.

This plant is a deciduous shrub or small tree that grows to a height of 3 to 4 meters.

The leaves are oval and shiny green.

The fruit is in the form of a dried nut with coiled wings in the center.

The buds are zigzag, with a leaf and two spines (one straight, the other curved) on the outside of each groove.

This tree is considered an ornamental tree and is cultivated in some areas.
