In addition to not telling people to “wake the fuck up” — it also feels like time to stop talking AT people.

I mean, if they wanted to talk with you, they would’ve done that by now, don’t you think?

For many, it would appear that they have no such interest. So how long then should you wait in hopes that they will show interest, not in you, necessarily, because that was never your goal, but rather in the ideas that you cannot help but be committed to?

How long then? In many cases, it’s been three years now, and if you have gotten positive responses from only a handful, then great … move on. They are not likely soon to be swept up by a new emotion, passion, or idea.

Actually, you are lucky to have even a few pay attention, because a lot of people don’t have anyone … so blessed are those who keep reaching out absent the expectation that they will ever be heard or appreciated.

In earlier times, when we had more interconnected communities, and fear was not so rampant as it is today, and when we held more things in common, which enabled us to more easily share our traditions, and to have extra time to give to events where we could celebrate and “ritualize” those connections … back when there were fewer distractions…

But perhaps you noticed, that among the many curses that Covid delivered, one was also a new and vicious war, not only on our traditions, and on our older ways of life, but on our human souls as well.

Some saw that war for what it was, and they stood up to it, and they said no, we will not collapse in the face of that … No, and fuck you to fear!

We will continue to move forward and those who want to come along will come with us, and those who don’t, won’t, and there’s not much we can do about that, but keep believing in the power of love, and in the raw beauty of the soul.

And if you have found it to be true, perhaps you have come to believe in God too … by way of surrendering yourself to something beyond you that still has your best interests at heart.

That’s a big leap to make I know, but in my experience, it is a great comfort and a powerful ally.
