Came across another Japanese misty scene and really liked the layers of homes. I think as I move along my painting journey I want to continue to hone the work I do into a sort of Ghibli type of vibe. I'm still going largely "old painter" style trying to keep things to loose large strokes that suggest detail rather than paint them but as I continue to keep a critical eye on my progress I do want to try and start to lean harder into to more illustrative work of the Ghibli movies. That must have something to do with why I'm always attracted to these Japanese countryside images.

For a long time now it seems like the pursuit of getting better has made me scared of adapting to a particular "style". I think I've been sort of afraid that I would be stuck in a box if I went into the "style" zone to soon and maybe that was the wrong way to look at it. So instead of thinking, "this defines me as a painter" I believe that my ability to adapt to a style might actually force me to make decisions a bit more deliberately rather than as an exploration. We'll have to see, there's definitely a "Ghibli" look, I'll have to see if I can pull it off.
