We are finally hearing more and more about the impact of passive solar, although in my opinion it is still little known.
Did you guys know anything about it?
Yet we're talking about a simple system that doesn't require much effort and could provide a third of your home heating passively.

We are talking about re-evaluating the use of skylights and windows that are not just design accessories to beautify the decor of our homes.
They are real heating systems.
Unfortunately, to date they are an underestimated source of sustainable thermal energy for our homes.

But the time has come to review our way of conceiving and living our spaces, where the watchword is not to waste, even in the energy field.

A recent study by researchers at the University of Oregon, USA, Ref confirms that through skylights and windows we can collect natural light to heat rooms directly without having to convert it into electricity.

Let's not forget that our heating sources are still powered by fossil fuels (oil or natural gas), which are responsible for the emission of large amounts of carbon into the atmosphere.

Surprising data emerges from the study, in fact it has been detected how much solar energy had remained unused, even discovering that passive solar heat resources have exceeded the needs of heating.

In the U.S., during times of the year when homes need heating, about 7 megawatt hours of passive solar energy per household per year are available.

And that is precisely during the coldest times of the year that require the use of heating.

Is it possible that we want to miss this opportunity that not only affects the environment, but also decreases the annual expenses of families, even a reduction of up to 80% on bills!

Already with 10 square meters of glass per roof and the installation of sliding insulation panels to maintain heat at night, you can get this advantage.

It is clear that taken individually, it may not seem like a very profitable system in the short term and not effective in combating climate change, but if it were done on a large scale then the results would be extremely different.

It would take more sensitivity on the part of governments, providing concrete interventions through discounts or tax breaks for all buildings that choose to focus on passive solar heating.

But I think it will remain just one of many possible and applicable systems that will quickly go into oblivion.

Thanks for reading my post.
