They do say time is the most precious thing in the world because no matter what we do, we always seem to be running out of some. Some people don't even have any time in general. So when we give the time we consider so precious to something, it means that thing is really special to us. When I got into steemit, I was told steemit is not stressful after you figure out your way around it but still it will consume your time. So I asked myself well how much time can it take. Then I started blogging and I discovered it does take alot of time. Well here I am today, sharing a blog about how much time I spent on steemit last week.

There are people here on steemit who take it as their full time job. There are people on steemit whose cash out is equivalent to the salary of those who have actual day jobs. But for me, steemit isn't my only source of income but it is my highest source. I do petite trading once in a while, and I also consume autonomously, meaning my parents still support me. Nonetheless, I use steemit to support myself one way or the other.

Since I am a student, I have to allocate special times to steemit during week days and well on weekends, I can engage on steemit anytime of the day but on Sundays, I only engage after church service. The engagement challenge has been going on for 4 weeks now. I started participating in the second week right up till now. Due to this engagement, my activeness on the platform has increased. Not only because of posting, but I also comment and upvote the posts of others.

Above is a summary of my last week activities.I took that screenshot on Sunday the 15th of May. I had a total of 8 active posts on steemit between Monday the 09th to Sunday the 15th of May. 5 of those posts were engagement challenge posts and the other 3 was in steem Cameroon. Last week I received roughly 62 comments on my posts and I sent out 61 replies. I commented on roughly 50 posts last week. And from my rewards, I did 3 power ups last week.

All these activities take alot of time. During week days, I can only interact on steemit after school. Though I can randomly open the website and like posts, comment and other things but the time I dedicate during week days is special.

During weekdays last week (Monday to Friday) I spend about 4 hours on steemit that is from 8pm to 11pm. During this period I am only on steemit doing everything which is considered as being active. For the weekend ends, I spend twice that amount of time. Because firstly, I search for other contest from @disconnect blog for a dedicated 2 hours. Then I use 6 hours just browsing on steemit and following up steemit blog, and also reading curator 4 to 9 and country representatives reports from the steem POD community as well as creating content. To calculate all that;

DaysCalculationsHours
Weekdays (Monday to Friday)4hours × 5 days20hours
Weekends (Saturday & Sunday)8hours × 2 days16 hours
Total-36 hours

From the calculations above, we can see that I used about 36 hours last week as steemit time. This is not including the times I spend roaming on the platform during week days.

Time management is not easy for me especially during this engagement contest where we must drop just one post per day. If there were no limits one can prepare and drop even 3 posts on their free time. But since as steemians we want to engage we have to follow the rules and drop a post everyday. So last week and the weeks before weren't easy at all. It takes me at least 1 hour to type an engagement challenge post and I mean just typing.

To be able to manage my time, I have to plan ahead. I have to know my activities of the next day. If I have school work to do and I want to do that at night, I have to shift my steemit dedication time to before 8pm or after 11pm. If it is after 11pm then I must force myself to that siesta in the afternoon. Also to manage my small business alongside everything I really don't have much time to associate off steemit. I always working on something. Either I am studying, or I am selling or I am on steemit or I am doing something personally beneficial. So I can me amongst those who say they don't have time.

Another thing i do to manage my time is I prepare for content creation ahead of time. Any free time I have on my hands, I use it to prepare to creat a post. For example I can make the cover photo, prepare the images I am going to use, pen down the points I talk about. All this will help me not to spend so much on one post, that is from preparation to typing.

So my advice concerning time management is that we should just plan ahead of time. Use the note app on your phone or your note book and write what your activities for the next day are. Highlight the things which are more important and those you can do later. With this step, any free time you have on your hands, you will want to utilize it so that you can strike things off your to do list.

Also another thing about time management is takiy your time. Rushing over things can destroy them and you will need more time to fix it. So it's better to take your time and also rest when tired so that you can experience maximum efficiency when you wake up.

My Suggestions on the Next Engagement Challenge

  • Personally, I think the one post per day rule should be reversed. The challenge is one week but one can drop different challenges in different communities on the same day.

For me that's the only thing I would change about the challenge. Everything else is very okay. The rules are great and the interaction is superb. The engagement challenge and taken me to places I didn't think I'll go and it has brought me out of my comfort zone. Untop of that I have earned rewards which I powered up and increased my steem power alongside making good friends like @tmighty and @sikan-eyen alongside many others. I also met wonderful steemians like @mesola @patjewell @patience20 and @cocomuff.

Well that's my post on the time I have spent on steemit last week and also my engagement with others. It was a good contest to participate in. Thanks for reading 👐.

I invite to join this contest
