The Agave americana is a perennial succulent that can reach considerable sizes, with a rosette of leaves that can extend up to 1.5-3 meters in diameter. The leaves are large, fleshy, and lanceolate, with serrated edges and sharp terminal spines. The leaf color ranges from gray-green to bluish, giving the plant a majestic and imposing appearance.

One of the most spectacular aspects of the Agave americana is its flowering.
