Geopolitical Update

CHINA ♡ INDIA

Friends Forever

Am happy with the news of China and India resolving their border dispute which was started due to British colonization of India and subsequent territorial expansion into China. The agreement was reached just before the beginning of the BRICS+ summit at Khazan with Russian President Vladimir Putin playing a key part in bringing the two parties together.

This latest development has enabled a bilateral meeting between the two heads of state, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, first since five years ago and since their meeting at 2023 15th BRICS summit at Johannesburg, South Africa.

The formation of BRICS followed by BRICS+ helped to ease the tensions between the two nations to a point where the diplomatic relations were reestablished, embassies reopened, and agreements were reached to peacefully resolve the border dispute, which was finally done at onset of 16th BRICS+ summit. Yey!!! for team Peace.

Now India can finally fix its luck of roads and transportation connectivity across the country as it is currently very challenging to travel across the subcontinent.

Meanwhile India was recently accused by Canada with murder no less. "India and Canada have expelled their top envoys along with other diplomats ... over last year's assassination of a Sikh separatist on Canadian soil." BBC 14 October 2024

India was on a fence between the West and the World and the latest Western bs has decisively pushed India to embrace the BRICS+ as unified by common interests economic and political family. I wrote an article a while back warning India to be careful playing both sides and trusting the West. At this point in theirstory one would be an idiot to trust anything the collective West says, since what it does with resulting effects is amply obvious.

The SCO of which India and China are also members as well as Pakistan, Russia and other allies has primarily regional security focus which also could act as a defense alliance similarly to NATO if it was actually used as initially intended and claimed.

China has also managed to broker peace between Soudi Arabia and Iran. "Chinese-mediated detente between Iran and Saudi Arabia was driving a “wave of reconciliation” in the Middle East and pledged to firmly support Tehran on “issues concerning core interests”."

"Saudi Arabia had, meanwhile, lost confidence in any US commitment to shared regional security concerns and wanted to bolster ties with China, which has retained good relations with Iran." Al Jazeera 21 August 2023

"The World Bank's calculations suggest China's rate of extreme poverty has plummeted from one of the highest in the world – 88% – in 1981, to virtually zero today, with the fastest gains in the 1980s and 1990s during the capitalist reforms of Chairman Deng Xiaoping." theconversation(.com)

"BEIJING, April 1, 2022— Over the past 40 years, the number of people in China with incomes below $1.90 per day – the International Poverty Line as defined by the World Bank to track global extreme poverty– has fallen by close to 800 million. With this, China has contributed close to three-quarters of the global reduction in the number of people living in extreme poverty. At China’s current national poverty line, the number of poor fell by 770 million over the same period." worldbank(.org)

On a side note, I do not know what is the beef between Brazil and Venezuela, quite disappointing, will am sure find out all about it. The Argentina changing its mind after the change of the political party in power is also rather disappointing. The addition of all bunch of new countries into BRICS+ is however very exciting and inspiring.

I thank Russian people, people of Khazan, and President Vladimir Putin for hosting successful BRICS+ summit. It is impressive how much work is being done in such a short time for peace, truth, trust, mutual prosperity, sovereign integrity, helping developing nations, mitigating negative effects of climate change, environmental protection, promoting sustainable development and green technologies, cultural exchanges, and new economic trading systems, New Development Bank infrastructure whatnot funding, setting up grain and other commodities markets, rating agencies, equal access to education, AI and new technologies, debt refinancing and aid for severely indebted and poor nations, UN restructuring along with the abolishment of the Security Council or else its veto power.

BRICS+

"The BRICS is a forum for cooperation among a group of leading emerging economies. The BRICS includes 9 countries - Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iran, Russian Federation, South Africa, United Arab Emirates." ilo(.org 'int. labour org.')

"Four Southeast Asian countries – Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand – have become partner countries of BRICS, a group of emerging economies that is seen as a counterweight to the West.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday (Oct 24), the @BRICSInfo account said 13 nations have been added to the alliance as partner countries. The other nine nations are Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Turkey, Uganda and Uzbekistan.

They are not full members of the group, which was established in 2006 and initially comprised Brazil, Russia, India and China. South Africa joined in 2010, while Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) became BRICS members this year." channelnewsasia(.com)
