Movie Review

The movie tells us about 3 friends Farhan, Raju and Rancho with different backgrounds that met themselves in an engineering institute. Raju is from a poor background, Farhan has always wanted to be photographer but was forced to study engineering and Rancho is the rebellious school genius that is always challenging the norms of traditional education system.

Rancho hates the idea of their school teacher always putting pressure on students to memorize their book to compete rather than understanding their books in order to be innovative. His famous quote in his school was "If you Pursue excellence, success will follow."

The film also talks about the existence of toxic competition within the educational system and the constant pressure from society to excel in life, and how it has affected students psychologically.

This can be seen in the pressure Raju faced for not doing well in his academics compared to other students coupled with expectations from his poor family to succeed in school. It affected his mental health , when his principal threatened to expel him and he attempted to commit suicide by jumping from a window.

Another unique feature about the movie is the love among this three best friends. I never thought such a movie will bring tear drop from my eyes after seeing such title. These three characters are so relatable, each of them with there own unique struggles and personalities. Their camaraderie and friendship form the heart of the story. Thanks to Rancho, the lives of Farhan and raju was transformed.

What I love about the movie.

The first thing that captured me about the movie was the name. Normally, one would have expected a funny movie from beginning to the end but it turned out to be a beautiful combination of love, life lessons and funny moments. After watching this movie, it will change the way you see education and success.

What I dislike about the movie.

The movie skipped the part on how Farhan became a successful wildlife photographer. They never showed his days of struggle or the days he ever regretted of dumping his engineering degree to go chase his dreams. If the movie wanted us to follow our passion, at least, a little struggle of what Farhan went through is necessary because it would be a source of motivation to the viewers.

Secondly, I won’t advise a kid to watch the movie because they might form an opinion that getting a school degree is just a waste of time especially with the continuous ridicule of education by Rancho.
