Classroom Management
Hi everyone!
Welcome to my season 2 post of SLC. I am grateful to have participated in the first one Which discussed on developing a learning contract. Enough being said on the topic I believe we Should all remember what a learning contract gets all about.
Going to this week's challenge, we are going to be talking on classroom management. It's quite an amazing topic to discuss on us. Teaching learning process is such complex task which when not handed we care, it cannot be done properly. We have to develop certain criteria, set of rules and conducts to government classroom.
what is effective classroom management, and what does it have to do with planning, implementing, evaluating learning, and utilizing resources optimally? Explain the relationship of each of these points using your language
what is effective classroom management
Effective classroom management Is the technique of creating positive and productive learning environment where students feel safe, engaged, and motivated. This ensures that the student work in context following particular instructions which help as a guide in their academic criteria. There are various points to consider when discussing on classroom management.
Clear Expectations: just like we all know without proper planning, our work, Our goals, on our project won't get better results. The same goes with the classroom. For a classroom to function normally, they should be clear expectations which involves Establishing clear rules and routines that students understand and follow.
Positive Relationships: As a teacher, we all need to build strong relationships with students based on mutual respect and Trust. The teacher has to be strict with the students and same time Open for communication and interaction. Making sure the children don't go too far to the point of disrespect.
Engaging Instruction: now, going to the lesson, as a tutor we ought to design lessons that are interesting and relevant to students. Based on my past experience, I have noticed that when a lesson is not properly prepared, the learners don't seem enjoy it that much.
This can be observed based on their interaction in class and some even go to the point of sleeping during lessons. So our lessons should be structured, organized and simple to understand by our Learners.Effective Communication: effective communication doesn't only talk about the language we use in teaching like English or French or German, it goes a long way to discuss on the methodology and the grammatical approach we use in preparing our lessons.
Make sure when preparing lessons, use clear and concise language to communicate with students. To throw more light on this, I mean break your work in simple language or simple terms which is easiest to be understood by the learners.
- Positive Reinforcement: positive reinforcement, one of my favorite rights methodology in classroom management. Over the past years, I discovered that children tend to perform higher and engage in competition to study when they are been encouraged and motivated severely .
To make my classroom active enough and competitive, I always make sure I set a prize on little achievements such as classroom test exams. The highest score with a certain Mark let's say 19/20 are having all the credits will receive a price . This could be financial or any other form of motivation .So Encouraging and rewarding positive behavior Is a necessity.
- Fair and Consistent Consequences: classroom ills are disrespecting the rules and regulation or could have conduct for the classroom are greatly punishable and then treated with a stained eye. I let my children know this on the first day I entered the classroom. The rules are listed and no one, is obliged to go against them or consequences for negative behavior in a fair and consistent manner Will be treated as such. The discipline Master can take care from here.
- Active Supervision: As a teacher we are to work in collaboration with the students and make sure they are doing the right thing. During lessons, I try to move around the classroom and supervise my students to make sure every student is doing the right thing. I have neglected a few cases in the past and when I was checking their books I discovered that they were doing something totally different . Since then I make sure I supervise every student one after the order to make sure we are doing the right thing.
Finally in context , Effective classroom management is essential for creating a successful learning environment. It helps to reduce disruptive behavior, increase student engagement, and improve academic achievement.
learner during lessons.
what does classroom management have to do with planning, implementing, evaluating learning, and utilizing resources optimally?
For classroom management to be properly implemented, the following four cases of classroom management must be applied which are: planning, implementing, evaluating and utilizing resources concisely.
Planning:
Setting Goals and Objectives:one need to be Clear and concise of what he want to achieve with his learning efforts. Just like every aspect of life, we meet goals to progress.
Identifying Learning Needs: We need to be constantly assessing our Learners utilizing our technical know-how knowledge and skills to determine areas for improvement our Learners are lagging in.
Developing a Learning Plan: By structuring a learning plan, Which outlines the learning activities, resources, and timeline. This help keeps our Learners informed of the Lesson's progress.
Allocating Resources: We also as well need to Determine the necessary resources such as time, materials, technology, etc. to support your learning goals.
Implementing:
While we are done with the planning phase, let's get to the implementation phase And see how it goes about.
Engaging in Learning Activities: This involve Actively participating in activities that align with your learning plan. Examples include: reading, writing, practicing, problem-solving.
Utilizing Resources Effectively: As tutors, we should make sure to try our best and use of available resources to enhance our learning experience.
Time Management: One of the key factors a teacher should take note of is time management for stuff. If we don't work according to time, we are either lagging behind are not finishing our syllabus in time. So Organizing your time to allocate sufficient time for learning and avoid distractions is obviously a necessity.
- Adapting to Challenges: This is a serious problem when it comes to some tutors. We should be able to adapt to changes and challenges by Being flexible and adjusting our plan as needed to overcome obstacles or unexpected situations.
Evaluating Learning:
Monitoring Progress: By Regularly assessing your learning progress. You can be able to track their achievements through this assessments. It is quite necessary to give assessments at least 2 weeks of class or maximum One month after lessons.
Reflecting on Learning: A tutor should be a credit card thinker, Thinking critically about his learning experiences to identify strengths and weakness both for himself and his Learners.
Seeking Feedback: . Just like they say no one knows it all. Therefore by Gathering input from others
for instance: teachers, mentors, peers One can gain an insight of what is lacking and improve his learning approach.Making Adjustments: We should be able to use the assessments and evaluations findings to modify your learning strategies and resource allocation Which work best for our Learners.
Utilizing Resources Optimally
Identifying Relevant Resources: it is important to Select the resources that are appropriate for your learning goals and style.
Accessing Resources Efficiently: this explains the essence of Finding and accessing resources in a timely and convenient manner.
Using Resources Effectively: Employing resources in a way that maximizes their impact on your learners is greatly appreciated.
Evaluating Resource Effectiveness: With the available resources, we should be able to Assess the value and usefulness of resources to determine if they are contributing to your learning goals.
How do I go about creating a classroom atmosphere that supports the learning process?,the explanation I give is based on personal experience that I did.
Alright, interesting question, If I am speaking of what I do on a normal to make sure I manage my classroom properly, here is a rundown of how it goes.
First day of classroom, I greet my students and they great me as well, while everyone is seated, We Begin by identifying ourselves. I start by giving my name to The Learners, if possible, write it on the board for them to see and copy behind their books.
Each student stand up and give their name progressively up to the last person. With time I get to catch majority of their names. I proceed from here by reading the rules and regulation which are going to follow our classroom learning environment. As I read the students listen carefully. If possible copy then at their convenience.
These rules involve the pros and cons Which should and are not allowed in class during lessons. We can stress on things like eating in class while lessons are going on, discussing with mate, making site comments, while lessons are going on or using an authorized languages in class. There is a punishment for this and it is right in the rules and regulation.
While I'm done with this part, I go a bit to cheer them up and ask them in a polite way to be good friends and Learners and we can all study in peace. Done with this part, we can go ahead by discussing on the learning objectives.
In my subject, on Our first lesson, I make sure I give them a rundown of the scheme of work so that the learners can know how much we have to cover. After which we state our topic one and less the main and specific objectives of that lesson.
As lessons proceed over time, I make sure I evaluate them when we have covered a significant amount of work in the form of quiz to make sure they are always up to date before the final exam. Equally, I ensure that I move around the classroom to check on each and every student to make sure they are following up with me and no one is left out.
Proceeding, I equally have to make I agree with the students By presenting them, the learning contract of which we all have to agree on and work according to time as speculated by the contract. Therefore, no destruction should be brought in which is going to Delay our progress.
Before the start of any exams, I make sure we revise again this labos which we have covered so far to make sure no student should be left out. This face involve active monitoring and evaluating seeing the level at which my learners are At, and making sure each and every one of them is in phase.
After evaluation I go to optimizing resources checking the areas which we have difficulties and making sure I adapt to new ways by testing numerous approaches to see which one works best for my Learners. Once gotten, it is implemented with immediate effect.
Here are a few tips I go about my job daily as a teacher making sure I have an effective classroom following the various criterias of classroom management.
