Greetings everyone's.
Environmental factors
Topography of the land: crop should not be cultivated on a high places it should be cultivated on a leveled land to avoid erosion and drainage problems.
Climate: this includes rainfall, temperature and relative humidity, sunshine **rainfall crops depend mainly on rainfall for their water supply but can also get their water through irrigation.
Sunshine: this is very important for the growth of all crops, it helps the plants during photosynthesis.
Soil: crops require different soil for their growth and yield that is sandy, loamy and clay soil. Because when the soil is not fertile it will not yield good crops.
Market factor:
Demand: most times the demand for that product may not be needed, like when it is out of season it will not be consumed much. Or when the local and international market demands a particular produce .
Pricing: the price of a produce changes often and the will affect both the buyers and sellers because fluctuation can hit the market anytime and may affect the profit margins.
Market trends: you have to know what is trending in the market to meet up with your competitors and expand your business in market growth.
Traditional methods
Crop rotation: this is the practice of growing different crops on a piece of land in an orderly sequence year after year. The leguminous plant in the rotation will enrich the soil with nitrogen through nitrogen fixation in their roots nodules.
Organic farming: this is the method of enriching the soil with animals waste such as poultry waste , piggery and cattle dung(feces).
Irrigation: this is the artificial process of supplying water to plant.
Modern methods
Vertical farming: this is a process where by crops are growing in a vertical way , because all the crops will be arranged in a straight line.
Drip irrigation: when there is a good amount of water in growing crops through the method of targeted water and sunlight.
