Elphinstone Cemetery

philpotg -

Heading from Malmsbury towards Castlemaine we decided to stop at Elphinstone to have a look at the local cemetery which is a cute little town cemetery and the earliest graves that we could find were around the mid 1870's. Probably the earlier graves from the gold rush era are unreadable or have disintegrated over time. It is a nice way to spend a bit of time wandering around in a picturesque setting and inspecting the old gravestones. It is a reminder of how tough things used to be a 100 or so years ago when whole families died within a few years of each other. Medicines and medical facilities are so much better now.
