Herbal medicine in the kitchen as we are learning in this week's class, I have come to know the importance of having these herbs handy in my kitchen, haven successfully gone through the lecture , I present my Assignment below.

Recipe Creation: Create a meal or recipe using at least 3 herbs which are commonly found in your area and explain the health benefits of each herb in the recipe.

My meal using three herbal around me

This is my indomitable noodle prepared with Tumeric powder, garlic and scent leaf. As someone who is healthy alert, I prepared my meals using more of Herbal recipes. The good news is all these herbs are found around us.

Tumeric powderTumeric is good for shining and healthy skin. It is very good for digestion , it's anti-inflammatory .
GarlicGarlic is good and can be used to cure common cold, it helps to reduce the case of heart failure
Scent leafscent leaf is an ancient herbs that is used for so many things such as stomach disorder, skin disease like ringworm and eczema

Research Seasoning Health Benefits: Pick any two seasonings and research their health benefits. Write a short paragraph on each, covering how they can benefit your health when included in meals.


Aidan fruit

Aidan fruits.

What is Nigerian delicacies without Aiden fruit, this brown like fruit that has so many nutrients that beneficial to our health. It contains vitamins, calcium and potassium. It is mostly harvested when is mature and you can identify mature ones when the color is brown, sometimes the matured ones falls off on there own.

Uses.

It is used in preparing pepper soup by, washing it thoroughly and putting it into a cooking pot, after the it is removed while the taste remains in the food.

Benefits.

The benefits of Aiden fruit can not be mentioned in one paragraph,


Nutmeg

Nutmeg is a small rounded nut that is traded in Indonesia before it became popular in other countries. Since it's origin it has been used in so many things such as in baking, seasoning in food , incense.

Uses.

It is used in baking things, and seasoning for cooking. It is one of those spices that all chef can't do without. I think that's why it's somehow costly in the market.

Health benefits

Nutmeg is grinded into powder and used for cooking.

Herb Identification Challenge: Identify five herbs at a local grocery store or farmer's market, taking photos and writing down their uses, along with how they could be incorporated into cooking.

This natural herb is used for seasoning of meat or cooking porridge.
How it can be used This herb has peperish aroma so it is used in moderation especially for people that doesn't like much pepper. It is pounded or grinded before use .

Cloves

This can do the same work with Selim, it used for preparing peperish foods. It is crushed or pounded.

Garlic.


Garlic

Garlic is very good when it comes to regulation of blood sugar level.

How to use peel off the back, crush or grind sprinkle in your food such as rice , noddles and many others.

Tumeric


Turmeric

It is used to boost the immune system. And also help fight against depression.

Uses. peel your tumeric dry and crush to power ,then uses in your meals.

Ginger.


Ginger

Ginger is that spices that is used in bringing out the natural taste of food, it can be used in preparing meat, rice and vegetables.

How to use. Peel the back crush or pound them put in your meal.

Detox Medicine:
Prepare a herbal detox medicine and tell step by step process and how it helps to detoxify the body?

my recipes

After I washed my recipes in clean water. I pealed the ginger, garlic tumeric.

Hot gin and measurement cup

I measured 2cups of the hot gin into the washed recipes in a plastic container.

Step 3

Step 3 this the mixture of the hot gin and the local herbs specifically for my detoxification.
I allowed it for some time to absorb properly. I noticed the color changed and my detox medicine was ready.

Testing my detox medicine

This can be used early morning and late at night for it's effectiveness.

Note The hot gin I used contains some alcohol which may not be tolerated by few people, as such it's advised to be taken moderately to avoid intoxication.
