SLC21W2 // Classic vanilla and chocolate cakes

ninapenda -

Cake is a celebration of life,a perfect ending to any meal. If I had my way, I would celebrate life with lots of cakes on daily basis.

I have had series of classes in cake making and until today, I don't regret it. Having all the fun in the kitchen is what I enjoy the most. Now let's get to work...

Have you ever made any of these classic pastries at home? Tell us about your experience

Yes,I have made cakes several times at home. It's usually during holidays, when everyone is at home, when there is a full house. I baked chocolate cakes like two pans for the family and it was a lot of fun because I didn't have to work alone.

My experience during this time was fun, amazing and beautiful. I had to play a little with the flour, the whisk, and mixture of my batter. I didn't know it was that fun the first day I tried it at home because I usually do it at my work place with lots of serious people around so it wasn't fun at all.

My experience was the best and I can't even think about the stress I pass through but the fact that I get the perfect result, it was the best experience for me.

Make one of the two cakes presented (detail ingredients and step by step) and indicate whether you followed the recipe we provided or prepared your traditional cake recipe

I have Just followed the the cake recipe shared in the lesson, preferably the vanilla cake.

Ingredients

IngredientsQuantity
Flour150g
Baking powder2g
Sugar150g
Butter100g
Eggs2 pieces
Milk120ml
Vanilla1/2tsp

Steps in preparing my vanilla cake

• In a bowl mixer, I added my butter and sugar, then with a wooden spatula I began my creaming. I continued this process for quite a lot of time to achieve a smooth cream.

• The next step is adding my egg yolk and mixing it together with my spatula to give it a smooth mix.

• I also added my vanilla to my creamer and then mixed all together.

• I went ahead to add my milk to the creamer and then mixed all together with my spatula.

• I added the egg white lastly and mixed it all together to achieve a smooth running batter.

• I measured my flour and add baking powder to it and mixed together, and added it to the creamer. I mixed thoroughly to avoid lumps and achieved a running batter.

• I washed my pan with clean water and I dried it with a clean towel. I greased my pan with butter to avoid the cake sticking to it. I poured in my mixed running batter into the pan.

• It's the final step. I'd set my local oven heating on low heat and before placing my pan, I made sure it was heated. I covered the oven and let my cake bake.

After some time,I used a toothpick to check if my cake was done. Since it didn't stick, It was done and I finally made that sumptuous and yummy vanilla cake.

What was the most difficult thing for you when preparing the cake?

I didn't have any difficulties in preparing the cake because I was used to baking cakes. It was only stressful for me because I used the manual process to get all work done.

Baking cakes is quite easy and very simple once you have the right measurements of ingredients. I'd known the measurements of baking a small pan of cake so it was quite easy for my to get it all done.

Do you have any special tips for making perfect cakes? Share them

My special tips for making a perfect cake is making sure that all baking ingredients are at room temperature before I start mixing, this helps the ingredients mix together properly and achieve a fluffy cake.

I beat my eggs before mixing it to my creamer, this way, my cake turns out light and soft.

I have followed the lesson for the week to achieve my homework task.

This is where I end it for the week. Thank you Teachers!
