What's carpal tunnel syndrome? Write in your own words after getting knowledge from the lesson post. |

A disorder known as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) occurs when the median nerve in your wrist is pinched or crushed. This frequently occurs when you use vibrating instruments or type a lot and make repetitive hand or wrist motions. Injuries medical conditions like diabetes or hormonal changes like pregnancy or menopause might potentially be the cause. Pain and other symptoms result from the carpal tunnel a narrow opening in the wrist that is unable to accommodate swelling or nerve pressure. CTS symptoms include hand and wrist pain which is frequently worst at night. Your thumb index and middle fingers may tingle or become numb. Using your hand repeatedly can weaken the muscles in your forearm making it things that are difficult to grasp. Depending on the reason this illness might develop gradually or quickly. Sometimes the cause is obvious such as an injury but other times there is no recognized cause.
One popular treatment for CTS is physical therapy. Stretches nerve glides and wrist rotations are a few exercises that can help with pain relief and movement improvement. You can relax your muscles before performing these exercises by massaging your wrist or using a hot pad. The majority of patients recover well with regular therapy but in certain extreme situations surgery may be necessary to relieve the nerve strain. To stop it from recurring it's critical to find and address the underlying reason such as changing your work habits.
How would you diagnose a carpal tunnel syndrome? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests? |

Doctors or therapists begin by performing a thorough examination of our hand and wrist in order to identify carpal tunnel syndrome. They assess the sensation of our hand when we move or push specific areas and inquire about any symptoms you may be experiencing such as pain tingling or numbness. Bending our wrist to examine if it causes discomfort or tingling is a straightforward test known as the Phalen test. To check for nerve problems the therapist can also use Tinel's sign which involves tapping on our wrist. These tests assist in determining whether we have compression of our median nerve.
If more information is required the doctors may take tests such as nerve conduction studies (NCS) or electromyography (EMG). The function of our muscles and nerves is assessed by these tests. The doctor may recommend ultrasounds or X-rays if they believe there may be further issues such as arthritis or fractured bones. Finding the root cause of the problem is the aim in order to plan the appropriate course of treatment. It's may be therapy or surgery.
Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share images gifs or videos while practicing preferably gifs or videos. |

I then proceeded to carpal tunnel syndrome stretches which target the thumb wrist and carpal region to release tense muscles. Lastly I performed median nerve glides a particular exercise designed to strengthen the nerve's route and lessen numbness. I used a heating pad before to beginning.
My wrists felt more relaxed after using it for a few minutes. In addition to feeling wonderful performing each of these exercises step-by-step demonstrated how they could be used to treat or prevent wrist issues.
Share your review after performing these exercises either on yourself healthy individual or patient.
When I saw someone in good health using these exercises they said they were helpful for increasing their range of motion and avoiding wrist problems. The median nerve glide exercise was effective in relieving tingling and numbness in a person with carpal tunnel syndrome. But consistency is essential to obtaining good effects as these exercises need to be done regularly. All things considered these exercises are beneficial for prevention and treatment particularly for those who spend a lot of time using their hands at work.
