INTRODUCTION

Hey guys, how are you doing, I can see you are all doing great, yeah I'm fine if you may asked. Alot is being happening around us and sometimes I keep asking questions.

A single mother can be pregnant and immediately after giving birth, she died and leave the child and at the end of the day, that child became homeless.

I have seen in a situation where a family of father, mother and child went on a trip and on their way coming back, they had an accident and died but the child was alive, there was no body to take care of the child, and as a result of that , she became homeless and the emotional trauma affected her brain, till today she can't communicate freely all because of what she went through, she was going around begging people for money to buy food and eat. So guys let's go into the contest topic. But before I proceed I will love to invite my friends to join me in the contest. @goodybest, @patjewell @ngoenyi

Homelessness is a very serious issue that is affecting so many countries all over the world which my country nigeria is not exempted.
Nigeria happens to be one of the largest economies in Africa, but even at that we still have Nigeria still have homeless people.

In my country Nigeria homeless people are usually not found in the urban areas but if at all they are found is not that much compare to rural area.

My problem is that I hate seeing people complaining, that's why any time I see this homeless people under the bridge or on the traffic light begging, at times you will see them repeating dirty clothes.

In day on my way to church I saw some of them at the refuge place picking some rotten food there and eat, then I asked myself, if they are picking food from the refuge and eat then what about the water, how do they drink water, so my friend that was with me told me that some of them drinks water from the gutter and drinks.

At times you found some of them in an occasion parking remaining food from the plate and eat, there is this my friend that buried her dad and I happen to attend the burial, then I saw this homeless people expercially the children coming around to pack left over food.

Things like this always brought out tears from my eyes and at the same time, I always thank God for the privilege he has given to me, giving me and my children shelter.

What do you think is the cause that leads these people to be on the streets, homeless and without family?

There are so many reasons why so many people become homeless without someone helping them. Let's look at some of the reasons.

  • Poverty is the main cause this people becoming homeless, so many of them they couldn't afford three square meals a day and the tendency of them paying for an accomodations is low which cause them to leave on the street, still under this poverty, they couldn't have access to education.

There is one man in my state, he was homeless, so since he couldn't pay for an accomodations, he pack his family and stayed in the Forest, he cut wood in the Forest and make tached house for him and his family but along the line he lost his wife because of the cold weather, as God may have it one faithful day luck found him, a good Samaritan that went on a tour saw him and brought him out from the Forest, then rented an accomodations for them.

  • Mental health issues can be another cause for homelessness, since they can't be treated properly, they end up being on the street, some of them they don't have family that can care of them so because of their situation, they can't have support from treatment.

  • Another problem that leads to people being homeless is Family breakdown, a lot of people experiencing homelessness because of the problem facing their family, this can happen when there is a divided home.

Has the government tried to treat or create decent shelters to help these people?

In Nigeria, there are thousands of people that are the on the street, they live in extreme poverty. Though the government has made efforts to provide shelters for these people, but I think there is something they are not doing right, which if they can address the issues it will go along way.

One of the important thing that the Nigerian government has done to help this homeless people is to establish them by building some housing. The government has to implement the National Housing Fund (NHF) scheme, which their main targets is to provide affordable housing so that the low and middle-income earners can afford.

What could you propose so that these people do not continue in this dark world?

  • We are in the world that filled with darkness and suffering, it is very important if I can come up with some tools that can help this people to break out from their current situation and give the way for a brighter future. One of the things I will love to do st that these people will not be in the dark world again, is to provide education and skill facilities so that these people can have access to education and batter themselves in future, with education, they will be able to set free from poverty which can lead them becoming homeless.

  • mental health support and counseling services will be another tools that I will make available with the tools it will help these people to cope with their emotions and traumas.
