Just to be clear, I'm using deliberate language when I say "these United States" as opposed to "The United States" or "The USA."

Saying "these United States" is using the plural version, which was the idea behind these United States, that we would have several states which are united.

I think that the plural is more accurate.

I live in Arizona. California is right across the border. Especially with the flippant attitude to national, constitutional law, I could land in prison in California for what would be perfectly legal in Arizona -- because California is a fucking dictatorship.

"These United States" is simply a more accurate way to describe the ideas that got us going.
