In a world in which journalists lie, how do you get facts straight.

Well, it seems to me that being capable of exercising basic logic is a start.

I have found a few journalists who I trust. Some of them I know personally. Others have just consistently turned out to be right on a regular basis for years. I try not to weed out people who disagree with me.

It also seems like a good idea to compare notes. If The New York Times, Fox News, The Young Turks, and Tim Pool all agree on the facts of a case while spinning the facts differently, you probably have the facts. All you need to do is filter out the spin.

One of the oddest journalistic cases I've ever witnessed was the George Zimmerman case. Both the right and left-wing media falsely characterized Stand Your Ground laws as, "If you feel threatened, you can use deadly force." They just used different inflections. More than ten years later, people still falsely believe that Stand Your Ground was relevant. So, another component is reading the law for yourself.

Also, don't listen to Joy Reid. She's a disinformation machine.
