In India, there are still a large number of users of normal cell phones with keypads called Feature Phones. In this case, RBI has introduced a new technology so that people using keypad phones can also use the UPI application. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das launched the 'UPI-123 Pay' service for this purpose.

Arround 40 crore customers in India use only ordinary cell phones. This service is launched so that they can participate in digital modernity. And this technology will enable additional processing of billions of retail cash transactions.

In this 'UPI123 Pay' service, the general public with a normal phone has to go to the bank and link their cell phone number with the bank account. Then enter the debit card number and generate a UPI password, and the after you can resume the transaction.

You can send money through this service in 4 ways.

  1. Send money using an app designed for normal phones. 2. You can call the IVR (interactive voice call) number and register the information including the bank number of the person to whom you want to send money and send money.

  2. You can send money using a speaker-like device designed for this purpose.

  3. It has been informed that money can be sent to the number given by RBI even after giving a missed call.

This service not only allows you to send money but also do gas bill, mobile recharge etc. It is reported that you can check your bank account balance and make transactions through this service even at smartphone scan-and-pay locations The daily and individual transaction limits are Rs. 1,000,000 and Rs.5,000 per single transaction respectively.
