Thanks to James Webb, it has been confirmed that the universe is accelerating and has been accelerating for only about 5 billion years. The data from Webb's observation of galaxies along with supernovae have yielded a Hubble constant of 72.6. km per second per megaparsec.
A megaparsec is an enormous distance, each one is equivalent to 3.26 million light years and you already know that a light year is the distance that light travels in one year, the expansion is of the entire universe including our bodies, although the expansion On a human or Earth or solar system scale it is completely insignificant, but if it continues to accelerate it could lead to what is known as the great tear where in the end everything in the Universe will disintegrate, even the atoms that make us up. .
The particles of the atoms that form us will end up separating due to the expansion of the universe itself from the space between them. The curious thing about this theory is that with an increasingly accelerated expansion, the great tear will not occur in an infinitely distant future, it is distant, but it is measurable, and they have calculated that this great tear would occur in about 22 billion years from this moment, which is certainly many years, but which greatly limits the existence of the universe.
What will happen after the Great Tear, we are not very clear either.
