Coinbase is currently being charged by the state of New York for violating security laws.

State of New York says cryptocurrency is securities.

Looks to me like it's 256 bit encrypted 1's and 0's which allow safer representations of money for transactions compared to say credit cards numbers and even bank account numbers because most cryptocurrency uses a base 36, not base 10 and a 36^56 number set versus 10^16 for credit, debit, and account cards.

Poloniex was forced out of the United States and sold to Justin Sun.

Coinbase is located in California, not New York.

But it looks like they, New York, now runs the world wide American court system.

New York will probably force Coinbase from the United States and ban Americans from using it by April 16th, 2024.
