Greetings friends of Steemit and Steem4Nigeria
It's always exciting to make post in a community like Steem4Nigeria. Before I start I would like to invite two fellow Steemians @jiva34 and @eveetim to participate in the contest.
In the life of Bengali Hindus, there are thirteen festivals in twelve months. But actually it is many times more. Probably people in prehistoric age were very religious and ritualist. They probably invented God and goddess from puran and Upanishads. They always worship them with devotion and attention.
Let me tell you a story about one of my colleagues, Marwari who was once in dearth of money. He decided to meet a friend of him who was a merchant in the neighborhood State called Orissa. He instead of giving him money, requested to stay back at the hotel.
The next day he asked my friend to join him as Manager. My friend agreed and joined. Afterwards he was very obliged to my friend because he could attend the holi work at Goshala (Cow sheds).
Daily livelihood is secondary to many people who are very devotional. For them Holi work is primarily the main goal of life. If you are not aware of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, please search on Google. They have more than 800 temples throughout the world particularly in most of the modern cities.
Last Sunday was the annual worship Jagatdhatri Maa exactly after one month of Durga Puja. In many places of Our State Jagatdhatri Puja is more popular than Durga Puja particularly in Krishnanagar and Chandannagar of Nodia and Hooghly districts respectively.
Actually Maharaj Krishnachandra initiated Jagatdhatri Puja in 1762 in Bengal. History is also interesting. Though he was Rich and Maharaja of Nodia once he was the defaulter of tax of $1,153,540 ( equivalent purchase power today) and he was jailed. He was released on the day of Bijoya Dashami, the last day of Durga Puja. He heard of the drum beating while returning from Murshidabad. He was completely at a loss when realised that he could perform Durga Puja. He was advised to carry out Jagadhatri Puja on the ninth day of shuklopokkho in the next month.
I visited Roybari in my locality where Jagadhatri Puja is celebrated with full enthusiasm and excitement as well as Durga Puja.
Thank you for reading my post.
