Introduction

Women are rare gifts in every family in the world. These sets of people are specially created to be beautiful, loving, kind, generous and loving. They are inspirations to both their families and society. They come as sisters, mothers, wives and as aunties.

I am a product of a woman. I am not just being born into my family, I was born there as an inspiration, a motivator and a game changer. I'm the first woman to acquire a good level of Western education, the first to have an organised marriage done.

Before I became this strong, a lot of women had inspired me. I am talking about great women of substance and integrity.

My Inspiration

The first woman who ever inspired me as a little girl in my middle school days was Late Mrs Margaret Eshiet. She was a broadcaster on my state's owned radio station. The Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation AKBC, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. She used to inspire me with her voice on the radio.

When I became a teenager, I was greatly influenced by many Nigerian women who were doing great in their careers. And because of the level of their proficiency in their different careers, they were appointed by the government. That made them play key roles in the government of Nigeria.

The most inspiring amongst them was Mrs Dora Akunyili. She was a former MD of the National Agency for Food and Drugs and Control (NAFDAC). She was bold and fearless, addressing all the illegal production and movement of foods and illegal drugs in Nigeria. Though she's late now, she still has a place in my heart.

Others are Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director General of World Trade Organization. I love her charisma. For a woman to attend that position, it means she's humble and hard-working, persistent, patient and intelligent. Being one of the most influential women on earth, she inspires me a lot. To be hard-working, bold, persistent, intelligent/smart.

My mother with my children

Lastly, my biological mother is my biggest inspiration that forces tears to roll down eyes. For the past four years, she has been battling spinal and nerves pains that she barely could walk well. Yet, she hasn't stopped getting busy, laying her hands to work so that she could earn money. She doesn't depend on any of us to feed or buy her drugs but rather, she works to help herself.

Each time I see her, and then remember how strong and active she used to be and how she is now, and how she walks, it used to make me cry. I look at her and see how she is trying to make things easier for us and how she cares for us and even our children with her condition. My mother inspires and motivates despite her challenges.

Some day, sooner or later, I want to be like these great women, motivating and inspiring the younger generation.
