It's really interesting me to take part in this contest because I like skills and I learn crochets some years ago when I was in my nursery school. It was the first skill I learnt and I was fond of knitting different things at my leisure back then and I usually enjoy being creative. But then, it's really a long time and I still have passion for it so with regards to this contest, I bought my tools to learn something new within this 6 weeks.
I have gone through the course outline for this week and I can say I have learnt something over there the difference ways of starting a starter knot and also the different way of holding a needle and a thread to be more comfortable and how to make a chain stitch.
To begin, I used the homework questions as a guide
According to the suggested forms, explain how you hold the thread and needle, show us a photograph holding the needle with your dominant hand and the thread with your non-dominant hand.
Thread and needle is very easy to hold and just as it is explained in the lesson it is best hold in a way that one will be comfortable with. I tried all the method that is given in the course outline to know the one I'm comfortable with.
As seen from the both pictures, It is very easy to hold a thread, I'm holding it with my palm facing me then the thread wrapped in-between my index finger and my middle finger. The second picture shows the thread wrapped on my palm then folded one strand on my small finger.
The method I enjoyed best is when the thread is wrapped repeatedly on my index finger then the remaining part of the thread is on my palm you will see it in the video while practising to make chain stitch.
Practice the 3 ways of making the starter knot, tell us which one was the easiest for you, show us step-by-step photos of the starter knot or magic knot.
I practiced all the 3 ways and I noticed that all of them were easy to make. But I noticed while creating the chain stitch , I enjoyed using the second method which was very easy for me.
Make 5 chains of 20 stitches, show us a photo with the 5 chains, identifying in order from the first to the fifth chain
Share a short video or GIF of yourself making a 10-stitch chain stitch and a selfie of your work or chain stitch.
Tell us if you had any difficulty completing the tasks assigned to you in your work or knitting.
Yes I have a little difficulty I used size 4 needle as instructed In this lesson but I it could be the size of my wool is making it very tiny. Aside from that I don't think I have any other difficulty, Then my wool wasn't straight and that makes my chain stitch to be curvy. Anyway I am learning I know with several practises I'll be perfect in making crochet.
Thank you so much for this lecture and I'm ready to learn this skill within 6 weeks at least I'll have a busy skills and then I'll develop the skills to turn out creative.
I stand to be corrected in any areas I didn't do well, ofcourse I'm learning
I will like to invite @adylinah @udyliciouz and @okere-blessing to take part in this contest.
