GREETINGS STEEMIANS

Good evening Steemians, it's been a very long time I shared my day with you. I believe you all are doing well. As a teacher, I have been really busy getting ready for the end of term. Each term is always filled with activities and this term, we had combination of interhouse sport and cultural day. Before now, we had been having practice for both cultural day and interhouse sport.

INTERHOUSE SPORT

Our interhouse sport which comprised of four houses; red, blue, pink and green took place on the 23rd of March. We had different activities on that day, and the result for the field event was announced. Blue house took first, pink second, red third and green fourth. After the interhouse sport, the cultural day was announced.

CHALLENGES AS CULTURAL DAY CHAIRPERSON

Dear Steemians, it came as a surprise to me when my boss made me the chairperson for cultural day. To be sincere, I wasn't happy because I knew everything depended on me on whether it was a success or failure, and I had never planned it before so I had no idea. A committee was made up consisting of four members but unfortunately, only 1 member of the committee helped out. The others have one excuse or the other, so I had to let them be. I had many challenges and I felt sad, the lackadaisical attitude of members, the lack of fund, also my subject was taken last and I had over a hundred script to mark, submit, input scores online within two days and still deliver as cultural day chairperson. So with the help of two other staff, I went and decorated the hall for the cultural day and also went to the market for Hausa food items since I was also the house leader of blue house, that is Hausa tribe.

THE CULTURAL DAY WE HAD BEEN WAITING FOR

After all the preparations and practice, today was the D-day. As the chairperson of the event, I really prayed that it would be a success. The day didn't really start well because there was no generator and sound system to be used, neither was there money to hire one, but eventually everything went well. Tho the time to start was supposed to be 9am, but we eventually started by 12pm. There were lots of activities and each tribe tried their best. We had singing competition, dancing, cooking, speech, drama which was later struck out because of time, and comedy. So the result of today's competition was added to that on the interhouse sport which made up the overall competition. At the end of it all, red house which was the Ibibio tribe took first, blue house which was Hausa tribe took second, pink house which was Igbo took third and green house which was Yoruba tribe came last. At the end of it all, results were given to students and then school closed for term. I got stressed but I was glad it was a success.
